Additional Information
Biography
Jean-Francois (“JF”) is a Senior Partner at Bain & Company, based in San Francisco, advising primarily Technology clients and Private Equity professionals investing in the technology industry. With a focus on helping his clients unlock their full potential, GenAI is today core to such advisory work and top of mind for his clients.
Building on Bain’s early relationship with OpenAI which predates the launch of ChatGPT, and through his affinity with Silicon Valley, JF had a front row seat in helping technology clients navigate how GenAI can be a main source of value versus a core threat to their business. From recommending strategy shifts in where and how to compete, drawing implications on M&A, to improving one’s offerings and operations, and adapting one’s workforce and work environment.
Prior to Bain, JF developed his advisory acumen at McKinsey in Silicon Valley, and led BCG’s Consumer Internet Practice. As an executive, JF was in charge of eBay’s geographic expansion business and, over the span of multiple years, led Strategy, M&A, Business Operations, and was Chief of Staff to the CEO. He was previously the SVP of Strategy and M&A at Spirent Communications. JF started his career as a research scientist in Alcatel’s Corporate Research Lab where he helped develop the first ADSL modems.
He has an MBA from Insead (98D) and an MSEE from the K.U.Leuven in Belgium. He lives in the Bay Area, is married to Kira, and has 2 boys who still rave about the Summer at INSEAD program.
