Biography

Gopi Rangan is a Silicon Valley based venture capital investor, advisor, and educator with a mission to enable peace of mind through innovation. He is the founding partner of Sure Ventures, a leading venture capital firm investing in the digital transformation of industries including insurance, fintech, enterprise software, IoT, aging, and neurodiversity. As the host of The Sure Shot Entrepreneur podcast, ranked among the top 1.5% of over 3 million global podcasts by Listen Notes, Gopi offers a unique perspective on venture capital, demystifying the investment landscape for founders and investors.

Gopi has a rich background in technology and innovation. He is a subject matter expert on corporate innovation and venture capital, advising clients at leading management consulting firms such as McKinsey & Company and Bain & Company on engaging effectively with the startup ecosystem. Previously, as managing director of USAA’s $350 million corporate venture program, he led the firm to be recognized among the top 10 most active corporate venture capital programs by CB Insights. Earlier, at Intel, formerly Altera Corp., he spearheaded the formation of the company’s corporate venture capital program, expanding its portfolio to over 10 startups. Gopi began his career in technology research, product development, and operations, earning co-authorship on more than 40 patents.

Gopi has taught MBA, executive education, and lifelong learning courses in entrepreneurship at INSEAD since 2016. He also co-founded INSEAD Angels in Silicon Valley and previously served as president of the INSEAD Alumni Association’s San Francisco Bay Area Chapter, earning the prestigious IAA-USA Outstanding President Award. Gopi remains actively involved at INSEAD, contributing to the school’s global initiatives as a member of the Dean’s advisory committee at the INSEAD San Francisco Hub.

Gopi holds an MBA from INSEAD, an M.S. in Electrical Engineering from Arizona State University, and a B.E. in Electronics and Communication Engineering from Coimbatore Institute of Technology, India. He serves on the board of Achieve Kids, a Silicon Valley nonprofit dedicated to supporting students with developmental challenges.

Originally from Chennai, India, Gopi has called the San Francisco Bay Area home for over two decades. He lives in Menlo Park, California with his wife and daughter.
