Andreas von Specht is an 18th generation member of a German Family Business which was founded in 1590. His extended family is the largest shareholder of Germany’s oldest – and Europe’s second oldest - private bank, Berenberg Bank. Andreas has served for over 20 years on the board of the bank as a Non Executive Director. Together with his sister, he is also one of the main shareholders of a private bank in Switzerland, Bergos Bank AG. He is invested in a few more smaller private businesses and start-up‘s in Europe. He and his wife live in France.

Throughout his professional career over the past 30 years, Andreas developed an expertise in advising international company owners and entrepreneurs, increasingly focusing on international family businesses and their governance challenges. He is the founder, Managing Partner and Chairman of AvS Advisors since 2011.

Prior to founding his own international boutique firm with offices in Europe, S/E Asia and Latin America, he was a Managing Partner and Global Practice leader of Egon Zehnder in Germany and France. He started his professional career in the consumer goods industry, where he worked in various Marketing, Sales, and General Management positions with Mars Snackfood, Bacardi, and Van Houten in Germany and the UK.
