FAQ

What is the difference between INSEAD's various master's programmes and who should apply?

INSEAD’s master programmes differentiate primarily through five key factors: work experience requirements, programme duration, study format, geographic locations, and career objectives. The Master in Management and Master in Finance target recent graduates with minimal experience, whilst the MBA serves professionals with three to ten years’ experience. Executive Master programmes—including the Global Executive MBA, Executive Master in Finance, and Executive Master in Change— target senior professionals with at least ten years’ experience seeking to advance their careers. Programmes range from 14 to 22 months in duration. Campus location varies too: INSEAD MIM remains in Fontainebleau, MBA and GEMBA span multiple campuses, with GEMBA offering hybrid online and in-person format called GEMBA Flex, and the Tsinghua-INSEAD Executive MBA is uniquely based in Beijing.

What’s the average age to apply for INSEAD?

For both master degrees and executive education, average age of participants varies by programme. Some programmes target early career individuals who tend to be younger than 30 years old, while others like Executive MBA programme, or International Directors Programme under Executive Education target more senior professionals with an average age of 35-40 years old or older.

How long are INSEAD executive education programmes?

Duration of each executive education programme varies. If you are looking for a short course, microcredentials require only six to eight hours of commitment at your own pace. Some in-person open programmes last only a few days (for example, three to five days), but can also extend to a few weeks depending on the topic. Online programmes span four to seven weeks, allowing you to learn at your own pace whilst interacting online with peers and faculty through a learning coach and Action Learning Project.
