The EagleRacing Simulation & EagleTube

The EagleRacing Simulation features a high-level decision-maker from a race car company who is faced with the difficult situation of having to make a number of decisions affecting the financial future of the EagleRacing company.

Indeed, our decision-maker is confronted with an array of differing options, types of information, and conflicting opinions, all of which have to be properly managed and processed in order to elaborate and implement the best possible final strategy for the company.

In addressing such a situation within the framework of the EagleRacing Simulation, we are immersed in the dynamics of team decision making, that includes emotions, alliances, perceptions, interpretations of information, peer pressure, etc…

The EagleRacing Simulation is composed of the following three main decision-making dilemmas or sequences:

  • Dilemma/Sequence n°1:

Decide between two different collaboration / sponsorship partners;

  • Dilemma/Sequence n°2:

Decide whether or not to compete in an upcoming race, given a series of technical difficulties;

  • Dilemma/Sequence n°3:

Decide how to respond to / manage potential conflicts.

The EagleRacing Simulation may be played during a classical workshop.

Alternatively, in a second deployment modeit may be played by distributed teams over a period of several weeks.

In this latter case, at the beginning of each of the three Dilemma/Sequences, the participants receive an email from the facilitator with the link to a video sequence describing the dilemma, along with further instructions. Each team then has one week to elaborate a group decision concerning the dilemma, and the only forms of communication allowed are email or a collaborative group tool.

The EagleRacing Simulation is described in full in the December 2007 Copenhagen Workshop Launch report (i.e., it was a direct output and deliverable of CALT's INSEAD/European Commission funded project, L2C). Please contact me if you would like to have the document.

EagleTube is an on-line video-based system developed by Albert Angehrn at INSEAD.

Its purpose is to support and stimulate experience exchange and innovation-oriented collaboration among educators deploying the EagleRacing simulation.
