Programme Director
Philipp Meyer-Doyle
Programme Director
Associate Professor of Strategy
Professor Meyer-Doyle teaches corporate strategy, mergers and acquisitions, strategic alliances, and strategic management at INSEAD. He obtained a PhD at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. His research explores the micro-foundations of strategy and capabilities. A former investment banker and private equity professional, his teaching fuses academic insights with practical knowledge.
Laurence Capron
Dean of Faculty
Professor of Strategy
For the past fifteen years, Professor Capron has been studying how firms develop their business portfolio by acquiring, redeploying and divesting their resources. She shares her knowledge with INSEAD MBA, Executive MBA and Executive Education participants in courses that integrate strategic, financial, organisational and human aspects of M&A processes. Professor Capron’s philosophy is to encourage participants to see M&As as a tool and not a substitute for strategy. She advocates that merger or acquisition is often the most expensive, complex and disruptive tool – and should only be used when it is justified. Before jumping to M&As, executives should assess the strategic fit of the acquisition with the company’s business portfolio and select the right mix of internal and external corporate development tools.
