Changing the Climate in the Boardroom

The virtual event organised by ICGC together with Heidrick & Struggles and Boards Impact Forum showcased the latest findings of a joint research study conducted by INSEAD Corporate Governance Centre and Heidrick & Struggles which examines how board directors are addressing decarbonization, and to what extent climate change priorities are integrated into boards’ oversight responsibilities followed by panel discussion with inspiring chair and NEDs.

Transforming Governance for Good

MATINALE DES GRANDS PRIX 2019 - Grands Prix de la Mixité
Paris, 10 July 2019

The ICGC is proud to be the supporting partner of the Grands Prix de la Mixité, which was launched in 2017 to award and share best practices in gender diversity amongst listed companies SBF 120, Euro Stoxx 50, DAX 30 (Germany) and FTSE MIB (Italy) based on gender diversity in the Councils, the Executive or Executive Committees, the Top 100 and the part of women executives. INSEAD Professor Ludo Van der Heyden was invited to address the audience.

Towards Sustainability: A New Curriculum for Boards
Fontainebleau, 8-9 April 2019

The inaugural event held by the INSEAD Corporate Governance Centre (ICGC), the Hoffmann Global Institute for Business and Society (HGIBS) and World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD) address sustainability from multi-level perspectives including both macro and micro approaches with a particular focus on boards’ responsibilities and on validating what a curriculum for board members committed to such a responsibility might look like.

Bringing together faculty experts, regulators, NGOs, investors, board of directors and business leaders to scan the global sustainability landscape, examine the different dimensions of the debate, and address organizational and boardroom challenges in leading the sustainability agenda for long-term economic performance and positive societal impact.

INSEAD Directors Forum 
Singapore, 25-26 February 2019

Centred on the theme "Governance in the era of regulatory and geopolitical risks", the Forum engaged academic experts, regulator, board directors and chairman in thought-provoking discussions on how macro-economics, international politics and regulatory environments are shaping decision-making in the boardroom.

Keynote address by His Excellency Jawed Ashraf, High Commissioner of India to Republic of Singapore and Professor Kishore Mahbubani, Senior Advisor (University & Global Relations) and Professor in the Practice of Public Policy at National University of Singapore shed light on the complexities and potential outcomes of geopolitical events.

The Forum concluded with the Award Ceremony and dinner in the evening celebrating with 23 new INSEAD certified board directors (among 96 globally) who met the requirements for the INSEAD Certificate in Corporate Governance

ICGC Governance Visit
Georgia, 5-8 February 2019

INSEAD delegation represented by Emeritus Professor Ludo Van der Heyden, Sonia Tatar and  Stéphane Grand-Chavin visited Georgia in February to meet with the Prime Minister, Mr. Mamuka Bakhtadze, the Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport, Mr. Mikheil Batiashvili and other ministers and government dignitaries for governance exchange and discussion. More than 70 attendees (CEOs, INSEAD alumni and guests) turned up at the Corporate Governance Masterclass "Challenges of Governing in the Modern World" led by Professor Van der Heyden. 

 

SID Masterclass on "Corporate Culture and the Role of The Board"
Singapore, ​23 Jan 2019

Professor Erik van de Loo conducted a masterclass for ICGC partner, Singapore Institute of Directors on the topic "Corporate Culture and the Role of The Board" which explores the complexities of corporate culture and what board directors can do to assess and impact the culture in the boardroom in order to drive the alignment of the aspired and demonstrated corporate culture.

INSEAD Directors Forum 
Fontainebleau, 12-13 October 2018

The IDF on the theme - Governance in a Disrupted World, brought together academic experts, board directors and top executives for a time of thought-provoking discussion on how the current corporate governance landscape is evolving under the pressure of disruptive forces such as cybersecurity, environmental, social and governance (ESG) expectations, geopolitical shifts and shareholder activism.

Engaging participants though stimulating plenary and panel discussions, the Forum addressed board Chair effectiveness and gender balance strategies in the boardroom.

Presiding the Award Ceremony as the Keynote speaker was Dr. Andreas Jacobs, Chair of the INSEAD Board and member of the board of Jacobs Holding AG who shared a motivating speech on his governance journey in his family business and balancing business sustainability with impact for the society.

Australia and New Zealand, 29 October-2 November 2018

To announce the launch of new International Directors Programme (IDP) Asia edition in 2019 with Module 2 delivered in Sydney, Professor Ludo Van der Heyden conducted talks for our partner, Women on Boards and shared governance insights with Australian Institute of Company Directors, INSEAD Alumni Association, INSEAD Directors' Network, MinterEllisonRuddWatts and Institute of Directors New Zealand, bringing our global expertise to local markets.

IDN Governance Events 
Cyprus, 24-25 October 2018

INSEAD Directors' Network (IDN) in collaboration with the Embassy of France, Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, Cyprus Integrity Forum, PwC and Antoniou McCollum & Co., invited Professor Jaap Winter, Visiting Professor of Corporate Governance at INSEAD to address topics on business ethics, morality and implication on board work. 

Valore D In the Boardroom
Milan, 16 October 2018

Professor Ludo Van der Heyden was invited was the keynote speaker at the "Valore D In the Boardroom" event held Palazzo Cusani in Milan where where he addressed the topic on "Ownership in Governance with focus on family businesses". A panel with one Private Equity Fund Partner, one CEO and one Entrepreneur family member was formed to generate a lively and dynamic discussion after Ludo's presentation. The event was very successful and well attended with close to 80 people, mainly Directors but also entrepreneurs and C-suite Executives. 

INSEAD Directors' Network

 

Launched in October 2014, the INSEAD Directors' Network (IDN) is an offshoot of the INSEAD International Directors’ Programme (IDP). The idea for a network was promoted by alumni who had completed the programme and its certification and who wished to come together to promote good governance across the globe.The network supports INSEAD’s Corporate Governance Centre's activities in terms of education, research and outreach. 

Members of IDN are invited for webinars, networking events and dinners in major cities and have access to board search services through the Advocate and Connect Board Search Initiative.
