Leading international business school and top graduate school of public policy collaborate to prepare students for global careers in public affairs and business administration
INSEAD, the leading international business school and the Lee Kuan Yew (LKY) School of Public Policy, National University of Singapore, today announced that the two schools will collaborate to provide their students with a continuation pathway from the INSEAD MBA to the LKY School MPA and vice versa.
This will enable students from INSEAD to branch out into public administration, and students from the LKY School into business administration. INSEAD students from both campuses - Fontainebleau, France and Singapore - will be eligible to participate in this collaboration.
“It’s becoming increasingly critical for global business leaders to incorporate public policy issues into their management approach,’ said Dipak C. Jain, Dean of INSEAD. “Our partnership with LKY School will enable students to have an advantage when seeking prominent positions in economic and development institutions, government agencies, NGOs, and private sector roles.”
“The recent financial crisis has taught the world that we need greater cooperation and collaboration between the public and private sectors”, said Professor Kishore Mahbubani, Dean, LKY School. “Markets alone can no longer provide a stable global order. The invisible hand of the markets must work hand in hand with the visible hand of good governance. It is therefore imperative for future generations of leaders to receive training in public policy and business. We are pleased to partner INSEAD in developing students for global careers in public affairs and business administration.”
Jake Cohen, Dean of INSEAD’s MBA programme, added: “There is a clear need for students to have a sophisticated understanding of both international affairs and management issues in an increasingly complex and interdependent world. The INSEAD-LKY School partnership will provide a unique international framework for students who envision global careers in a fast-changing environment.”
“The INSEAD-LKY School partnership provides a unique opportunity for participating students to begin their enrolment at either school and obtain two degrees, an MPA and MBA in two years,” said Stavros Yiannouka, Executive Vice-Dean, LKY School. “Comparatively, there are several such programmes in the US that typically require three years of study. The INSEAD MBA continuation path is another opportunity for LKY School MPA students to pursue further studies, in addition to existing double degree options with NUS Business School and NUS School of Law.”
The collaboration would also provide students the advantage of an expedited application and admission process and where possible, partial credit for a limited number of overlapping courses. Both INSEAD and LKY School will also offer their career and student services to students participating in the collaboration. These services will be available from the time the student matriculates at either institution until completion of both Degree programmes.
