INSEAD, the business school for the world, today announced that the Financial Times (FT) has placed INSEAD #1 in the world under its 'Global MBA Ranking 2016'. The latest achievement marks a "triple first" for INSEAD, which is now the first and only business school to have all three MBA programmes ranked #1 in FT's rankings. In addition to being first in MBA, the Tsinghua-INSEAD EMBA is the number one EMBA in the world and INSEAD's Global EMBA is also the highest ranked single school programme.

INSEAD topping FT's 'Global MBA Ranking 2016' signals an impressive rise of three spots from its previous fourth position in 2015. The achievement reflects all that is outstanding about the school and what it stands for - its diversity, academic excellence, entrepreneurial culture and extensive global alumni network.

INSEAD's remarkable achievement not only highlights the success of the school's Faculty and Alumni, but is also a result of significant improvement across a large number of parameters. These include the salaries of its graduates, the percentage increase in salaries post-graduation, return on investment for the degree, among other indicators. INSEAD faculty's prolific and impressive research, along with the placement of its PhD students in top-tier institutions, contributed significantly to this ascension in the rankings.

"The stellar accomplishments of our alumni have helped us to achieve this amazing recognition," said Ilian Mihov, Dean of INSEAD. "We have more than 50,000 alumni representing 157 nationalities in 174 countries. Every day, they face challenges and seize opportunities that help companies, communities and countries to accelerate their growth and reaffirm that business can be a force for good." He continued: "We want to take this opportunity to thank our outstanding alumni, consisting of movers and shakers across various industries, our faculty, widely recognised as global thought leaders, along with our dedicated staff, who have worked together continuously to improve the MBA curriculum and deliver exceptional educational experiences to MBA students across all three campuses in Europe, Asia and the Middle East."

Graham Hastie, INSEAD's Assistant Dean of Degree Programmes, commented: "We are extremely excited about this extraordinary recognition. It bears testament to INSEAD's unique ability to attract and develop future global business leaders and to the excellence of our degree programmes. INSEAD was a pioneer in offering a truly global learning environment with no dominant nationality in any of our classes, delivering a unique and powerful experience to all of our participants. He added that "This unique and historic accomplishment was only made possible by the unwavering spirit of our community and the magnificent support of our outstanding faculty, alumni, participants and staff."

The latest achievement adds to the list of accolades that INSEAD has gathered, including being ranked "The Best International One-Year MBA Programme" in Forbes 2015 ranking, where INSEAD was recognised to offer the best return on investment of any MBA programme, anywhere in the world. According to Forbes, alumni of INSEAD's class of 2010 realised a 5-year gain of $171,200 and it took the typical graduate just 2.4 years to pay back their MBA investment.

Recognised globally as a prominent ranking of business schools, the FT ranking methodology is based on several parameters including:

Alumni salary: salary of alumni 3 years after graduation.
Salary increase: salary increase achieved by alumni after 3 years.
Value for money: calculated using the salary earned by alumni, course length, fees and other costs, including the opportunity costs of not working for the duration of the course.
Research rank: number of articles published by the school's faculty in 45 academic journals.
Alumni recommend rank: calculated according to where alumni of all top MBA programmes would look to recruit MBA graduates.

The global community today faces many unresolved issues and unprecedented challenges. The inspiring recognition of INSEAD strengthens the school's commitment to reinvent management education in order to transform businesses and improve living standards across the globe.
