PhD Summer Camp - Computational Organisational Science

Europe Campus
By Invitation Only

Welcome

We are pleased to announce a Summer Camp in Computational Organisation Science at INSEAD Fontainebleau from  2 - 4 July 2018.

The workshop will be taught by members of the Theoretical Organization Models (TOM*) Society, including Jerker Denrell (MIT), Thorbjørn Knudsen (SDU), Daniel Levinthal (Wharton), Chengwei Liu (Warwick), Phanish Puranam (INSEAD) and Hazhir Rahmandad (MIT).

Workshop Objectives

This workshop focuses on computational modeling and theory development and is designed to give a hands-on introduction to computational modelling methods applied to the study of organizations. The workshop involves lectures and discussions of key methodologies and hands-on group assignments.

Who should attend

The Summer Camp welcomes applications from doctoral students and junior researchers.

Key Topics covered

  • applications of computational modelling for research on strategy and organizations.
  • a brief survey of canonical models (e.g., mutual and coupled learning models; bandit models; NK models; system dynamics models) with hands-on practice sessions.
  • publishing modelling papers in top management journals.

Application Deadline

Applications should be submitted by 2 March 2018.

* The TOM society was founded in 2010 to support research and a community of scholars interested in the development of formal and computational models in the organisation sciences. The initial conference was held at Oxford and was organised by Jerker Denrell, subsequent conferences have been held at University Pompeu Fabra (Gael Le Mens organizer), NYU (Christina Fang organiser), University of Southern Denmark (Thorbjørn Knudsen and Oliver Baumann organisers), University of Venice (Massimo Warglien organizer), MIT (Hazhir Rahmandad and Chengwei Liu organisers), LUISS (Luigi Marengo organizer) and INSEAD (Phanish Puranam organiser).
