Eavor is a technology-based geothermal company co-founded by John Redfern, INSEAD (88D), who has been the President & CEO since inception in 2017.

Unlike traditional geothermal, Eavor is not a high-risk search for a reservoir to produce a fluid from. Instead, Eavor uses proprietary technology to drill massive subsurface “radiators”, km’s below the surface, and hundreds of km’s long. A benign fluid is then circulated in the radiator to harvest the heat via conduction and bring it to the surface.

This renewable energy is:

  • Scalable (built almost anywhere)
  • Secure (no reliance on “petro-states” or “electro-states”)
  • Reliable (dispatchable, even if no wind or sun)
  • Safe (no fracking or earthquakes)
  • Small Footprint (mostly underground)
  • Deliverable as heat, cooling, or electricity.

Eavor has field-scale demonstrations in Canada (since 2019), and the US (2022), that fully validate Eavor’s approach.

Eavor was awarded a €91.6M EU Innovation Fund Grant to facilitate the first €370M commercial scale Eavor-Loop (with first power in 2024). Completion will unlock an already massive pipeline of potential follow-on developments from around the World.

Eavor has been supported by leading investors, including: bp, Chevron, Vickers Venture Partners, Chubu Electric, Temasek, BHP and OMV.

We believe that Eavor could supply 25%+ of the world’s energy needs (for electricity and the equally large direct heat market). Eavor is not only the key to the energy transition, it also offers every country, city and village a chance at energy independence. That changes everything.
