Biography

Bernardo Sanchez Incera earned his MBA from INSEAD in 1990 and an undergraduate degree from Sciences Po in France, in 1984.

Bernardo brings extensive international and managerial experience across the banking, retail, and credit sectors. He currently serves as Chairman of the Board of Directors at Coface SA, where he leverages his extensive background to guide the company’s strategic direction and growth. With over 75 years of experience and a comprehensive international network, Coface is a global leading player in credit insurance and risk management. Coface is also a recognised expert in Business information, bonding, political risk, debt collection and factoring. 

His career includes a notable role as Deputy Chief Executive Officer at Société Générale, one of Europe's leading financial services groups and a major player in the economy for over 160 years. Bernardo  managed Retail Banking, International Retail Banking, Financial Services, and Insurance. He also held senior executive positions as CEO at Monoprix and Vivarte and Chairman at Zara France. Additionally, Bernardo served as Chairman of LVMH Mode & Maroquinerie Europe and was Head of International Operations at Inditex, overseeing global strategy and operations.

Earlier in his career, Bernardo was Deputy Director at Banca Jover in Spain and held board and director roles at Crédit Lyonnais Belgium. He also gained extensive experience as a Corporate Relationship Manager and Deputy Head of the Corporate Business Branch at LCL.

Bernardo’s extensive experience managing and leading organisations across different industries highlights his exceptional expertise and strategic insight. His diverse background solidifies his reputation as a leading figure in the global financial and retail sectors.

Bernardo is member of the National Council France and became a member of the INSEAD Board of Directors in June 2024.
