Biography

Baron Jean-Pierre Berghmans, MBA'74, is a distinguished industrialist born in 1949 in Namèche, Belgium. He is the son of Jean Berghmans and Baroness Lhoist, and is married to Countess Katherine d'Aspremont Lynden. Together, they have three daughters: Mélanie, Sibylle, and Valentine.

Jean-Pierre Berghmans earned a degree in Econometrics with honors from the University of Louvain, Belgium, and a Master of Business Administration from INSEAD, Fontainebleau, France.

He joined the LHOIST Group in 1975, where he held numerous key positions. He became a member of the Board and Managing Director in 1979, Chairman of the Executive Board in 1985, and has been serving as Chairman since 2011.

In addition to his significant contributions to LHOIST, Jean-Pierre Berghmans has been actively involved in various other activities. He has served as a Board member and member of the Advisory Council at INSEAD, and as Chairman of the Belgian Committee. He is a member of the Board of the Louvain Foundation at the University of Louvain, co-founder of the Maison de la Radio Flagey s.a., Chairman of the Club des Combins in Verbier, Switzerland, a member of the Trilateral Commission in Washington, USA, and a member of the Tate International Council in London, UK. His contributions have been recognized with the title of Chevalier de la Légion d'Honneur.

Jean-Pierre Berghmans is also passionate about collecting works of art and enjoys sports such as golf, skiing, and shooting.
