The tuition fee for the Class of MIM 2026 is €52,500. It covers teaching fees, all academic materials, access to the school library, IT services, and access to the fitness centre (Europe and Asia Campuses).

The tuition fee for 2024 Intake (Class of GEMBA'26) are as follows:

The tuition fee covers teaching fees, all academic materials, access to the school library, IT services, access to the fitness centre (Europe and Asia Campuses), lunches, coffee breaks and INSEAD organised group dinners. The tuition fee does not include transport, accommodation and all other meals.

The tuition fees are payable in four instalments:

First instalment: €8,500

In general, the funding doesn't come from only one source. Students use savings, personal loans, family gifts, INSEAD or external scholarships. Paid internship at the end of the programme can also help to generate some income.

MIM students can expect to incur a total estimated living expenses of €20,975 for the duration of the course. Rent and other living expenses vary considerably depending on the participant’s family situation, lifestyle choices and financial means. More details are available here.

In each round of Admissions, several Diversity and Achievement Scholarship awards are made based on the Admission application. They do not require an application. Only successful candidates will be notified of an award upon admission.

Diversity Scholarships will be granted to MIM candidates who bring diversity to the class in terms of background and personal profiles.  Achievement Scholarships will be granted to candidates who demonstrate excellence in academics and personal accomplishments.

INSEAD Singapore and Indonesian Alumni and Friends are specific scholarships that required an application. Candidates should be Singapore citizens, Singapore Permanent Residents, and Indonesian citizens who demonstrate outstanding personal achievements and promise that will contribute to the breadth of diversity in the INSEAD MIM programme. 49% of the current MIM '22 Class received a scholarship, and the average amount is approximately  20% of tuition fees.

Only INSEAD Singapore and Indonesian Alumni and Friends scholarships require an application.  Diversity and Achievement scholarship awards are made at admission based on the quality of admissions application.

No, you cannot be granted more than one award

Successful candidates for Diversity and Achievement scholarships will be notified upon admission.

Tuition fees for the August 2024 intake are €99,500. The fees for the January 2025 intake are €103,500. The fees are payable by instalments.

Tuition fees cover all printed course materials, access to the INSEAD library, access to on-campus information technology services, language tuition and testing*, student council fees, gym access, business cards, printing and health insurance.

We encourage you to limit your applications to a maximum of five (5) scholarships. Be strategic and apply for those where you feel you can make a difference and where you fit best.

Awards are generally not cumulated.

Three categories of scholarships are available to you: need-based, non-need based (awarded based on nationality, professional background, leadership abilities, or any combination of these criteria), and spot scholarships which are awarded immediately without the need for applications based on exceptional admissions profiles. 

Students use global INSEAD global loans and national bank loans.

30% of the MBA Class receives a scholarship. The average award is 19 900€.

You can take the tests up until the day of the application deadline, in this case you can submit your application form without uploading your GMAT score report. Please ensure your score is shared with INSEAD after completing the test.
Please note that GMAT Focus no longer provides an unofficial score report that can be printed out at the test centre or screen-captured at home.

INSEAD does not have a minimum required GMAT score. The Verbal, Quantitative and Integrated Reasoning sections of the test are most important. The Admissions Committee would like to see a percentile around 65% in both the Verbal and Quantitative sections and above five for the Integrated Reasoning part.

For the GRE, the Admissions Committee expects percentiles around 80% in both the Verbal and Quantitative.

Please keep in mind, however, that the GMAT/GRE is just one of several admission criteria. A high score does not guarantee admission, and a below average score does not eliminate a candidate

Your score is valid for five years prior to application deadline.

If you have reported more than one score to INSEAD, the Admissions Committee will still consider the full history of your GMAT/GRE attempts, but will place the greatest weight on the highest score you achieved. Also, if you have obtained a satisfactory percentile in one section of the test but a lower percentile in the other, and vice versa in a second test, the Admissions Committee may consider that you have reached a sufficient level overall, provided the second test does not show too significant a drop in the lower element.

INSEAD does not provide waivers for the GMAT/GRE fee.

Please use INSEAD’s full name “Institut Europeen d’Administration des Affaires” when reporting your scores.

Our GMAT reporting code (through Pearson Vue) is INSEAD: DL3-S8-07, INSEAD MIM. 

Our GRE reporting code is 2847.

We accept both the GMAT and GRE, including the original and shorter versions. There is no preference and you don't need to worry that any of these tests would be unrecognised or devalued compared to another.

We recommend that you choose the test that is most suited to your personal strengths and circumstances. For more information, please visit our GMAT/GRE resource kit.

INSEAD does not have a minimum required GMAT score. Rather than focusing on your overall score, we assess your individual results in all of the test sections.

Recommended score ranges

GMAT

In order to be competitive, you should aim to achieve a score at or above the 70th percentile in both the quantitative and verbal sections. For the Integrated Reasoning section, we recommend achieving a score of 6 or above.

GMAT Focus Edition (GFE)

For the GFE, INSEAD recommends a 60th percentile on the Verbal component (80), and a 66th percentile on the Quantitative (80) and Data Insights components (77).

Note: Due to differences in score scales and score distribution between the GMAT and GFE, a direct comparison of total or section scores would lack meaningful insight into performance. Please refer to our GMAT/GRE resource toolkit for more information.

Regardless of whether you're opting for the GMAT or GFE, please keep in mind that the test is just one of several admission criteria. A high score does not guarantee admission, and a below average score does not eliminate a candidate.

For the GRE, both in the original and shortened version, we recommend 80% or above in the verbal and quantitative sections.

The GMAT/GRE is a mandatory application requirement and cannot be waived. It must be completed before you submit your application online and the test should be valid until the application deadline. You will be assigned to an Admissions Officer once you have submitted your application and they will contact you within two days to confirm the receipt of your application and shortly thereafter if anything is missing. If your current score is older than 5 years, you must retake it before applying for the MBA Programme. 

Your GMAT / GRE score is valid for five years prior to the application deadline.

If you have reported more than one score to INSEAD, the Admissions Committee will still consider the full history of your GMAT / GRE attempts, but will place the greatest weight on the highest score you achieved. Yes, INSEAD will accept online GMAT or GRE scores provided that the test results are still valid (five years from the date of the test to application deadline).

The PhD admissions committee prioritises a fair and efficient review process for all applicants. To ensure this, we don't provide individual feedback or entertain inquiries about application status during the review period or after final decisions are made.

However, we can provide some general insights:

• Applications are evaluated holistically based on the current applicant pool, which can vary from year to year. This means robust applications from previous years may have different successes in highly competitive years. 
• For applications to be competitive, they should demonstrate strong academic performance and test results, relevant research interests, and a clear plan for collaboration with our faculty. Recommendation letters also play a crucial role.

Multiple faculty members are involved in the review process, each with their areas of expertise and research interests. Due to this collaborative nature, summarising specific preferences would be difficult and wouldn't accurately reflect the nuanced evaluation process.

Applicants can reapply to the INSEAD PhD programme a maximum of two times throughout their lifetime. Reapplicants must submit a new set of application materials, including the minimum admissions requirements, an updated statement of purpose, and letters of recommendation. Applicants must pay the application fee again, too. 

Applicants who reapplied for the third time will have their application voided even if they have successfully submitted it in the system.  The admissions team has a review stage in place before they submit the files to the committee, and will match records at the backend even if the applicant has created a new profile to submit their application for the third time. Unfortunately, we cannot reimburse the application fees already paid for the third application. 

Since this is a rigorous academic programme, the GMAT/GRE/EA/INSEAD Assessment or CFA Level 1 is a mandatory admissions requirement and cannot be waived. While we do not have a minimum score needed to apply, we encourage applicants to aim for a score in the 80th percentile (160) or better in the GRE, 70th percentile in the GMAT, and at 12 or above for the EA test, to be competitive with the other applicants. Since this is a finance programme, more weight is given to the quantitative section of the tests.

Depending on your nationality, you may need to apply for a visa to enter France. We recommend checking with your local embassy for specific requirements. If a visa is required, it is advisable to apply as early as possible to prevent any potential delays.

Upon acceptance into the programme, the INSEAD Admissions office will furnish you with the Visa Letter and Accommodation Certificate*, essential documents for your visa application.

*INSEAD will provide the Accommodation Certificate only if you are staying at the INSEAD residences. We will not provide accommodation certificate if you are staying somewhere else.
 

Application: All applications to the INSEAD GEMBA are submitted online. Make sure to thoroughly complete the Application Form, giving accurate and up-to-date information; and take the time to reflect upon and write up the six essays (one of which is optional). You will need to provide us with the required supporting documents including two recommendation letters - ideally from your current or past professional environment. You will also specify in in your application whether you plan to attempt the INSEAD EMBA Assessment, or have taken the GMAC Executive Assessment (EA) or GMAT (in which case you need to submit your score together with the application). Admissions Pre-selection: once the application is complete, the Pre-selection Committee decides whether or not to invite you to the next stage – an invitation to take the INSEAD EMBA Assessment or an admissions interview if you presented an EA or GMAT score. 

Admissions Decision: once panel results (for INSEAD Assessment takers) or interview reports (for EA or GMAT score holders) are received, final decisions are made by the Admissions Committee and notifications are sent to candidates by e-mail within ten days of the interview or of the INSEAD Assessment date.

The INSEAD Summer School fee includes medical and legal insurance, however students are responsible for gaining their own travel insurance. Students form the EU or the European Economic area should bring a European Health Insurance Card (EHIC).

Applicants need to submit their application online. Only complete applications will be considered by the Admissions Committee. You will need to submit the following:

• Online application form containing your personal data, a CV, academic background, two recommendations letter (from a business or academic environment/perspective), scanned copies of your academic transcripts with officially certified translation (if applicable), a motivation essay, and your test results for GMAT or GRE, and English (if applicable).
• Once you have submitted the application form, you will be redirected to the “Kira Talent” platform for a video interview, where you will answer additional questions.
• You will also need to pay the application fee:  EUR 180.

All elements of your application will be thoroughly reviewed by the admissions team. If successful through the first pre-selection, candidates will be invited to attend an interview with an INSEAD alumni or admissions representative in a city near you, or via Skype. Once the interview is completed and the interview report has been returned, the application will be reviewed further and finally submitted to the Admissions Committee.

You do not need to have full-time professional experience prior to applying to the programme. However, some experience in a business context will be valued such as an internship or work in a charity/community environment.

We require an undergraduate degree (Bachelor degree or equivalent) from a recognised college or university or that you have completed 180 ECTS. The Admissions Committee values the guarantee that a reputable institution may provide.

We accept transcripts in English and French. Transcripts in all other languages must be submitted with an officially certified translation.

The MIM programme is conducted in English, and you need to be fluent in English to be eligible to apply. If English is your native language, you must demonstrate at least a practical knowledge of a second language as soon as possible by passing one of our accepted language tests for your chosen second language. If you are a non-native English speaker, your native language will fulfil this requirement (no test required).

Knowledge of a third language is appreciated and will need to be validated before the end of the programme. Language courses will be made available upon admission and during the programme.

If English is your native language, or you have received a university degree exclusively taught in English, you do not need to take an English test. In all other cases, you should bring evidence of your knowledge through an English test result. We accept TOEFL (recommended score equal or above 103), IELTS (recommended score equal or above 7.5), Pearson Test of English (PTE) Academic (recommended score equal or above 70).

Yes, all candidates must take the GMAT or GRE to be eligible to apply.

Can I Apply Without a GMAT, GRE, or TOEFL?

For INSEAD Master Programmes, if you submit your application without a test, it will remain incomplete and will not be reviewed until we receive your test results.

GMAT Online Exam

Candidates have the option to take the GMAT exam online or at a test centre. The GMAT online exam is available in most locations, with the exception of Mainland China, Cuba, Iran, North Korea, and Sudan due to regulatory and local data privacy rules.

GRE at Home

GRE Test at Home can now be taken anywhere in the world with the exception of Mainland China and Iran.

ETS is offering the TOEFL iBT Special Home Edition test. To register for at-home testing, please visit the TOEFL website.

TOEFL has also launched an exclusive testing solution for Mainland China with registrations opening on 15 May 2020.

We look for participants who will contribute proactively and share the insights they have gained throughout their professional and personal experience. A competitive applicant manages to demonstrate a clear desire for intellectual growth, both in the classroom and through working on group projects.

We select participants who demonstrate cross-cultural understanding and an international outlook.

Finally, admitted candidates have demonstrated their academic capacity to address the intensive, rigorous and challenging EMBA curriculum. The INSEAD EMBA Assessment, GMAC Executive Assessment (EA) or the GMAT all provide a uniform and standardised way of evaluating candidates to that effect. Academic transcripts and test scores help us determine analytical skills and if a participant would benefit from doing preparatory work for some of the courses, particularly mathematically-based ones.

The INSEAD Summer School is an intensive two-week course taught entirely in English. All participants are expected to be proficient in English as you will be working and socializing with an international cohort.

INSEAD Summer School must be 18 years old or over, and embraces a wide range of participant backgrounds, welcoming university students, recent graduates, and young professionals eager to explore new horizons. Our diverse cohort comprises both undergraduate and master's level students, along with early-career professionals, creating a vibrant learning community with representation from different nationalities.

Each round is equally competitive as the ratio of acceptance is the same for all rounds. We allocate more places in round 1, 2 and 3 than in round 4, but we also receive more applications in round 1, 2 and 3 than in round 4. When choosing a round in which to apply, the most important consideration is to dedicate enough time and thought to your application so that it accurately represents your strengths and talents. However, we encourage you to apply to round 1 or 2 if scholarships are a priority or if you need more time to relocate to your starting campus.

We will strive to accommodate your campus choice. However, if your preferred home campus is full, you will be offered the choice of either a place on the other campus or a place on the wait-list for your preferred campus. In such cases, we encourage you to start your MBA programme on the campus that was not your initial preference, and then participate in the campus exchange to experience the other campus.

Unsuccessful applicants may reapply for a later intake. Please exercise your own judgement in deciding if you have any significant changes in your new profile since your first application that will make a difference with the Admissions Committee. All re-applicants are requested to submit a new online application, unless otherwise indicated.

There is no typical profile at INSEAD. We have an extremely diverse student body in terms of age, professional experience, education and culture. Check the latest class profile.

Participants in our current class have an average of 6 years work experience, with the range being between two and ten years of post-graduate work experience. However, applicants with less experience who demonstrate exceptional maturity and outstanding leadership through their professional and personal experiences will also be considered.

The August and January intakes are equal in size and composition and are equally competitive

There is no age limit for entry. However, the MBA is aimed at those who are at an early stage in their career. INSEAD participants in the current class have a range of between two and ten years of post-graduate work experience. If you have more than ten years of work experience, we encourage you to consider one of INSEAD's Executive MBA Programmes, where you will have the opportunity to learn with a more experienced and mature peer group.

In the large majority of cases, no. You should apply for the intake in which you intend to enrol. In truly exceptional circumstances, the Admissions Committee may grant a deferral. All requests should be made in writing and will be reviewed on a case by case basis.

To be included in a specific round, applications must be complete and submitted by midnight French Time on the day of deadline. A complete application includes the online form, GMAT test scores, English test scores (if applicable), all supporting documents, two letters of reference, payment of the application fees and video interviews*. * Please complete your video interviews at your earliest convenience and no later than 48 hours after the deadline to which you are applying.

Your campus selection has no impact on the admissions decision. In fact, the Admissions Committee, which makes all final admission decisions, does not have access to information about candidates' campus preferences.

INSEAD does not have a minimum GPA requirement as the GPA system is not a globally used grading methodology. We primarily look at the courses taken and the grades received in each course, in addition to the overall academic performance.

At INSEAD, we value diversity at every level. We welcome applications from people with a variety of professional and academic backgrounds, including the arts, law, medicine, military, non-profit, etc. As with all candidates, we will be looking for you to demonstrate your potential as a leader, and we will consider your professional experience and past performance when assessing your application

Yes. While the vast majority of our participants have undergraduate and/or advanced degrees, this is not compulsory for admission. Candidates who do not hold an undergraduate degree, but who have an excellent career record and GMAT score are also welcome to apply.

We recommend carefully planning your test dates so the scores reach us before the January deadline, preferably the first week of December. The availability of official scores varies between the two tests.

Please visit the respective websites of GMAT and GRE on their schedule for releasing the scores. Then, work out on when is the latest date you can take the test so we will receive the scores on time. 

As mentioned, if you have already completed your application but are still waiting to take the test in November or December, you can submit your application first without the test. Applicants can reapply to the INSEAD PhD programme a maximum of two times throughout their lifetime. Reapplicants must submit a new set of application materials, including the minimum admissions requirements, an updated statement of purpose, and letters of recommendation. Applicants must pay the application fee again, too. 

Applicants who reapplied for the third time will have their application voided even if they have successfully submitted it in the system.  The admissions team has a review stage in place before they submit the files to the committee, and will match records at the backend even if the applicant has created a new profile to submit their application for the third time. Unfortunately, we cannot reimburse the application fees already paid for the third application. 

Although we prefer that applicants' documents be in by the application deadline, there are particular circumstances in which you can only take the test after the application deadline. 

We encourage you to state the future test date in your application and complete it as per the usual process. We will note your future test date to know when we can expect the scores to arrive.

The PhD Admissions Office will send to the PhD Committee any standardised score reports that become available after we submit the application files and before the committee finalises their decision. Then, the committee will review these applications again once they receive the scores. Thus, we strongly encourage applicants to follow up with the test administrators on the availability of their scores and send them immediately to the PhD Office once they become available.  

We recommend carefully planning your test dates so the scores reach us before the January deadline, preferably the first week of December. The availability of official scores varies between the two tests.

Please visit the respective websites of GMAT and GRE on their schedule for releasing the scores. Then, work out on when is the latest date you can take the test so we will receive the scores on time. 

As mentioned, if you have already completed your application but are still waiting to take the test in November or December, you can submit your application first without the test. Applicants can only reuse their letters of recommendation from the previous year for their current application. Unfortunately, reference letters from over a year ago cannot be used as the programme archives them and cannot retrieve them anymore due to GDPR regulations. Similarly, application materials like transcripts, degree certificates, test scores, etc. are archived and non-retrievable after a year.

We do not have any cut-off points for the GRE or GMAT exam and accept a wide range of scores. We select applicants based on a holistic assessment of their profile and academic and research backgrounds; test scores are only one component of the many factors considered. Therefore, perfect scores do not guarantee admission, and lower-than-average scores do not invalidate your candidacy. However, we commonly see the following scores:

While some areas focus more on the quantitative rather than the verbal section, we would like you to strike a balance and aim for the scores above, which are good benchmarks for what the committee considers competitive across the eight fields of specialisation.

The Admissions Committee reviews all applications to ensure that each participant fulfils the requirements and any pre-requisite request for the programme. The Admissions Team will then confirm if you are accepted onto the programme.

Should you not be admitted onto your chosen programme, a follow-up conversation between you and the programme advisor is conducted to determine which other programme might be suitable or relevant.

Places on the programmes are confirmed on a first-come, first-served basis, taking into consideration the applicant's level, objectives and the diversity of the classes. We recommend that you submit your completed application as early as possible, preferably six weeks prior to programme commencement. The Admissions Committee will review your application and advise you on the outcome as soon as possible. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions about which programme may best suit your objectives or for any additional information. 

Some Open Programmes also involve an interview with the programme director as part of the application process. The programme advisor and admissions committee will be able to advise if an interview is necessary when you submit your application.

Payment to this programme is online. Please click on 'Submit', then click on 'Payment' to proceed with your payment and application submission. Your application will be reviewed by the Admissions Committee, and we will notify you over the coming weeks of the outcome. Applicants who are unsuccessful in their application will be contacted and will receive full reimbursement of the fee paid.

The Client may cancel the Application Form by giving INSEAD written notice at any time to the INSEAD Executive Education Department.

If the Client cancels the Application Form before the content of the first week is released no cancellation fee shall apply. If the Client Cancels the Application Form after the content of the first week is released, the Client shall be liable to pay INSEAD 100% of the cost of Tuition fee.

Our aim is to provide a high quality and impactful learning experience for all participants. To successfully complete the programme and receive a certification of participation, you are required to fully attend a minimum of 95% the programme, including all appropriate lectures, sessions, workshops, practical and theoretical activities of the entire programme as required by INSEAD. All our Open Programmes are taught in English and participants should be able to exchange complex views, listen and learn through the medium of English.

Students are expected to arrive the day before classes start. Should you choose to stay in the INSEAD residences, the rooms will be available from 1:00pm on the arrival date. All participants should be checked in the INSEAD residences by 5:00pm. The Summer School team will address all participants at 6:00pm. It is compulsory for students to attend this session at 6:00pm. On arrival, members of the Summer School team will be there to help students settle into their room, and meet other students.

After the closing ceremony and a cocktail reception, the summer programme will come to an end. Students should vacate their room by 9:00am, but are welcome to stay until midday, when all students must have left the campus.

We can arrange airport/train transfers by taxi for an additional fee.

The INSEAD GEMBA programme requires a significant time commitment. This translates to 12 weeks of on-campus modules, and in addition, there is an equivalent of 10 to 12 hours of homework a week.

The INSEAD Assessment comprises of 4 sections: Data analysis, data interpretation, communication analysis and critical thinking. For more information, please go to the INSEAD Assessment page.

Essentially there are math problems that test your fluency with numbers and ability to perform business mathematics as part of your job, and verbal problems that test your ability to zero in on the relevant content in logical and opinion pieces. If you do not use mathematics in work frequently, this will be indicated in your resume as well, and INSEAD will make recommendations for pre-EMBA preparation. You should not feel like you have to hit a particular target. The class will be balanced by people of different strengths, the test simply aids the admissions committee to understand your profile better.

The Assessment helps the Admissions Committee to gauge your likely performance in an academic and classroom environment, to determine your profile accordingly, and to aid them to propose additional preparation before the EMBA. There is no “weighting”. The most important part of your application remains your track record as a business person and your plan for maximising the EMBA opportunity to develop your career.

Preparation is strongly encouraged. The best way to prepare is to practise actual GMAT questions (focus on data analysis, data interpretation, communication analysis and critical thinking) and/or working with a 3rd party to prepare. It is wise to practise in a mock testing environment, inclusive of time constraints. Click here for more information and a comparison of all assessment options. 

You are given a business scenario in story format to read and absorb, with some number and background information. You will arrive at a general understanding of what is happening in the scenario and realise what the key points of the case are. You will make a presentation of up to three slides summarising the situation, and what the appropriate challenges and opportunities for the business are. The case will pose three questions that you must answer along the lines described above. A business person with significant experience in presentation will have been prepared for this exercise through their job.

The case presentation need not be prepared for. This is a holistic test of your approach to reviewing a business scenario, and your personal presentation and communication skills will shine in this part of the test. In fact, your individual personal approach will be valued better than a coached one. It is your opportunity to differentiate yourself from other candidates. There is no right or wrong result. The INSEAD Assessment does not look like a traditional consulting case, there is no need to review cases online. It is designed to be readable and understandable by people without a consulting background.

There is no coaching qualification offered following this programme, but it equips coaches and other professionals with valuable skills to drive individual and organisational development. You will also be enabled to assume roles in leading organisations and executing change management.

The programme requires students to study at INSEAD’s Europe and Asia Campuses located in Fontainebleau (France) and Singapore. In addition, you will have the option to join study trips in China, Singapore, Abu Dhabi (United Arab Emirates) and the USA.

The programme starts every year in August, with the first intake in August 2020. Prior to the programme start, there will be a series of activities where you will experience INSEAD's signature business simulation, have the opportunity to take on language classes and kick-start your career development journey with an introduction to different industries and the recruiting process. In addition, there will be teambuilding and cultural awareness activities to get to know your classmates better.

The INSEAD Master in Management is a 14 to 16-month programme.

The INSEAD MIM is accredited to grant a Master’s degree under European Standards and, by extension, registered on RNCP (Répertoire national des certifications professionnelles). 

More specifically, the INSEAD MIM received both the Visa and Grade of Master, and has been accredited by the French Ministry of Education through the CEFDG (Commission d’Evaluation des Formations et Diplômes de Gestion) to be entitled to grant a Master’s degree (Bac + 5), equivalent to a total of 120 ECTS. This means that the 14-16 months of the INSEAD MIM programme, including the pre-programme and professional exposure module, account for what is typically referred to as M1 and M2 in the French System.

Upon being admitted to the programme, you will be given access to the first step to your INSEAD experience. P0 comprises INSEAD's signature business simulation, language courses, and kickstart your career development journey.

This online component is self-paced. It could take up to two months to complete this period at a gentle pace.

The INSEAD Summer School fee includes all tuition and instruction, lunch and dinner daily, all books and materials, medical and civil liability insurance, guest presentations, field trips, and all cultural and social activities - including sports, excursions, museum and gallery admissions etc. It does not include airfare, visa, travel insurance, airport transfers, accommodation as well as personal expenditures - such as snacks, souvenirs, and so on.

Once students are admitted to the programme, they will receive a link to Eventbrite to pay the tuition fee and accommodation costs.

PhD students work with their advisors in their third year or at the start of their dissertation phase. 

Upon admission to the PhD programme, students work with their area representative, the faculty member who reviews their files for admission. The area representative acts as an academic advisor, guiding students in navigating the programme's first two years. 

PhD students meet with faculty members during the first two years of their studies and can begin shortlisting their potential advisors. Then, in their third year, they can finalise their advisor and formally invite them to be their lead faculty mentor during their dissertation stage. Advisor selection is a mutual decision between the student and faculty member. 

Therefore, PhD applicants only actively seek faculty members during the application stage, hoping to discuss their research interests and proposals with the latter. PhD applicants get to finalise their advisor upon admission and in their third year.

We do not offer the programme in a part-time or online format. INSEAD's PhD in Management is a highly intensive and rigorous five years full-time degree, with all courses compulsory and taking place in either Fontainebleau or Singapore. Therefore, it is neither possible to combine a PhD with your work nor do we offer the courses via distance learning. Note that we provide a full tuition scholarship plus a generous stipend to cover living expenses during the five years of study*; thus, working while studying is unnecessary.

*The funding will end at the end of June of the 5th year or when a candidate starts an academic position at a university or business school, and the like, awaiting completion of the graduation requirements (if earlier than the end of June in the 5th year). Overall annual support, i.e., tuition fee, stipend, research and conference budget and health insurance coverage, regularly undergoes review without prior notice. Newly admitted and current students must refer to the PhD guidelines or consult the PhD Programme Office for the latest updates.

INSEAD MIM students are covered worldwide for the duration of the programme with our private partner insurance AON. Fees are included in the tuition and coverage is compulsory for all students, no additional costs involved.  

The quality and diversity of the INSEAD community creates a stimulating and fun atmosphere: from entrepreneurship to energy, INDEVOR to Africa Club, community members engage in a variety of clubs (more than 40) and events throughout the year. While you pursue your interests, you will be forming valuable networks and friendships during your year at INSEAD.

On-campus gyms are available on the Fontainebleau and Singapore campuses, accessible for free with badge access. Various classes are offered on all weekdays and communal swimming pools are within walking distance from the campuses.
Amongst the existing student clubs, 10 are dedicated to sports from MountainSEAD to football, including racket sports, rugby, sailing…..  
The Fontainebleau Forest also offers many trails for running, hiking or cycling and is a sought after location for climbers. 
 

INSEAD students live off-campus in Fontainebleau and Singapore.

In Fontainebleau, they typically find accommodation in Fontainebleau-Avon within walking or cycling distance from campus. If you bring a car, you may choose to live in one of the surrounding villages, but we strongly recommend you live in Fontainebleau, as close as possible to campus to make the most of your experience and campus life. Very few students live in Paris due to the distance and daily commute (40 minutes by train from Paris).

In Singapore, students usually stay near campus, either within walking distance or a short bus or metro ride away.

Depending on where you reside, you may choose to walk, cycle or take a city bus. Fontainebleau-Avon has a network of buses and free shuttles are running in the morning and evenings from campus to the train station in Avon. If you are bringing your car, INSEAD has great parking facilities.

In Singapore, you will have bus stops and the One-North MRT station right at the doorstep of INSEAD.

INSEAD works closely with local estate agencies in both Fontainebleau and Singapore. Their contact details will be communicated in the welcome package you will receive upon admission to the programme.

INSEAD will guide you in the whole process on how and when to apply for your student pass and visa (if applicable).

For your stay in Fontainebleau:

If you are a European Union (EU) citizen, you will not need to apply for a visa.

If you are a non-EU citizen, you will need to apply for a long-term student visa. Under French regulation, non-European students will not be allowed to begin their course in INSEAD without a long-term student visa.

For your stay in Singapore:

When the programme is scheduled for Singapore campus, we will support you with the file submission to apply for your student pass. VISA approvals will be issued at the discretion of the consulate.

The MIM programme will prepare students for a wide range of career choices across different industry sectors, including consulting, financial services, technology and diversified industries (e.g. industrials and materials, FMCG, consumer and luxury goods, healthcare etc.). Within each sector, students will be able to access a range of functional areas, from project management to finance, sales and marketing, supply chain and operations and many more.

Students will benefit from a set of activities and resources delivered by the Career Development Centre before and throughout the programme. The Career Development journey consists of three main phases: Assess, Aim and Accelerate. We will partner with you to help you explore your career ambitions and mapping it against the ever-changing employment market. Our step- by- step process will allow you to identify your skills, attributes and drivers, and to access job opportunities by leveraging educational and engagement activities. Individual career coaching sessions and the interaction with an employer engagement specialist will allow you to smoothly prepare for and activate your job search strategy.

The Career Development Centre works with hundreds of companies across sectors and adapts the engagement activities with students depending on the company’s specific needs.

You will be able to consult with your career coach at any time on your career journey. An employer engagement specialist will also be available for individual sessions to discuss the specifics of a sector, function and/or country.

The Career Development Centre is actively engaged with the alumni community. By inviting them to share insights about their industries and advice on career paths, through videos or on-campus activities, you will have unique opportunities to broaden your horizons. Career treks or study trips will also give access to alumni.

The job location will depend on the recruitment strategy of the companies and your individual value proposition. The Career Development Centre will be available to consult with you on your career ambitions.

Salary and other benefits will vary depending on the individual company, function, sector and work country. The Career Development Centre will also accompany you through the process of salary negotiations. As a guideline, the average starting salary for the MIM'22 graduates was around $64,500 USD.

We want participants to be in the driver’s seat of their careers and we provide resources to empower you to do this, as we partner with you throughout your career journey. Reaching your goals is directly related to the effort you put into planning and implementation.

You can start with a one-on-one meeting with your in-house advisor who will assess your needs and recommend next steps. We offer five career coaching sessions to be taken ideally over the duration of the Programme. Executive MBA participants have 6 months after graduation, to leverage the coaching programme. 

We offer resources to help you create your CV, workshops on personal branding and interview techniques, and a wide range of webinars and on-line resources to guide you along your career path.

You will also receive a regular newsletter with information about activities to be aware of as well as invitations to forthcoming events of interest.

Our career opportunities are identical across both intakes. Whether you join in August or January, you will begin working with the Career Development team early on to prepare for the next step in your career. Those interested in a career in investment banking are strongly encouraged to consider the January intake, as investment banks hire full-time positions primarily through their summer associate programmes.

Companies recruiting at INSEAD prefer that you wait and go through the process when on-campus. By that time, you will have more information through company presentations, speaking with alumni who work at these companies or in the industry, and through your classmates who may be able to give you additional insights. 

You will find detailed insight into our graduates’ career, function and location changes in our latest Employment Statistics. Naturally, some career changes can be made more easily than others and are influenced by previous professional experiences, knowledge of the market, languages, etc. For those who are interested in making a career switch to banking specifically, it is recommended that you secure a summer internship with a financial institution or investment bank.  For other sector or functional moves, graduates need to identify these career goals early on and work in conjunction with Career Development staff to prepare for these transitions.

Some recruiters see an intrinsic value in hiring international graduates and are used to securing work permits for employees. For other recruiters, it depends on whether the skills you have are in demand in that specific geography (language abilities, experience in certain markets, etc.) to justify the extra burden of obtaining working papers. The delay in obtaining a work visa can vary considerably, and is impacted by both the applicant’s own nationality and the country in which the applicant wishes to work. There are some countries for which working papers may be more easily obtained for INSEAD graduates. 

Your chances of finding a job have more to do with your skills, experience and potential than your campus location. The Career Development team is well integrated across all locations and provides the same tools, advising, and resources, irrespective of whether you are studying in Fontainebleau, Singapore or Abu Dhabi. Career Development strongly recommends that you start networking in your target region early on and choose your campus for the peak recruiting season accordingly. On-campus recruiting is not generally impacted by location, as all companies recruiting from INSEAD must include students from both campuses in their recruitment campaign. Of course there may be exceptions where recruiters in the different regions have separate processes but they can also use the videoconference facilities or Skype, to conduct interviews with students, regardless of location. Being based in the region where you ultimately want to work does obviously increase opportunities for networking, which can translate into a higher likelihood of securing the job you want.

You will only have student status once you have started the MBA Programme. CDC does occasionally receive pre-internships from recruiters and these are posted on MBA Connect.

INSEAD does not officially track this data according to industry standards. However, the norm is that within 12-18 months after graduation, participants experience either a promotion internally, or a career progression externally. We have also observed that 30% of our participants achieve a career change 10 months in the programme. We have also seen a growing number of participants receiving job offers or evolving with their careers whilst still in the programme.

Our philosophy is that you are in the driver’s seat and, as an executive level participant, you should activate your career coachings sessions once you feel ready to work towards your career goals. You are also fully responsible for the speed at which your plans progress and we recommend that you stay committed once you have started working with a coach. Make sure to follow up on the suggested action points and keep the momentum. Try not to leave it until the end of the Programme to start the sessions.

Career change is a process that depends on many factors – not only your degree! Therefore we strongly advise you to start thinking about your next career move as early as possible in the Programme, if not before starting at INSEAD! Career change is possible at any point in life but it is directly related to the amount of time and dedicated planning that each one puts into their career plans as well as into their expectations of a career switch. A complete career change (Industry, geography and function) is particularly challenging at top executive level but it is not impossible. Each participant has their own unique set of expectations, motivations and aspirations for the next move and together with his/her in-house advisor and career coach can develop a customized career plan to achieve career milestones. Remember, we can’t control the outcome but we can help you manage the process.

In all other cases, you should bring evidence of your knowledge through an English test result. We accept TOEFL (recommended score equal or above 103), IELTS (recommended score equal or above 7.5), Pearson Test of English (PTE) Academic (recommended score equal or above 70).

Yes. Living in an English-speaking environment is not accepted as proof of fluency in English. If you have received a full university degree (undergraduate or postgraduate) where all courses were taught exclusively in English, we will accept your degree as proof of your fluency in English. In all other cases, you may take one of the above mentioned English language tests.

In addition to English and a second language, all students will need to demonstrate at least basic knowledge of a third language in order to graduate. If you already possess basic knowledge of a third language, we recommend you to certify this language as early as possible during your MIM.

Yes. Both second and third languages must be officially recognised by the government of a country. Your second and third languages must also be sufficiently different from each other.

Upon admission, INSEAD will provide all students with access to a variety of language courses, free of charge. If you do not yet have knowledge of a third language, we encourage you to take this opportunity to obtain basic knowledge in a third language of your choice, which you will need in order to graduate. 

'Fluent' knowledge is defined as the ability to communicate precisely and effectively in complex situations.

Approximately, the same number of seats are allocated to each round. Therefore, there is no difference in terms of competitiveness between the five rounds and we would encourage you to apply only once your application is ready as the selection process is very competitive. It is not advisable to rush for an earlier deadline if you feel you can still improve your application.

The application fee is 180 Euro.

INSEAD does not grant fee waivers for the MIM programme application. We appreciate that funding your MIM can be challenging and invite you to explore all options available, whether it be in the form of scholarships, loans, sponsorship or personal funding.

Yes, you may reapply for a later intake. We encourage you to exercise your own judgement in deciding if there have been any significant changes in your profile since your first application that might make a difference with the Admissions Committee. All re-applicants are requested to submit a new online application, unless otherwise indicated.

You can find out whether the online components of your application have been received by visiting the Dashboard of the online application centre. This page will indicate the status of your application. An email notification will also be sent to you within one week of submitting your application. We will inform you if any components of your application are missing. It is therefore important that you check your e-mail account regularly after submitting your application. Due to European Data Protection laws and our own confidentiality policy, our Admissions Office is regrettably unable to give out any information over the phone about applications.

If you encounter technical difficulties when completing your application form, please contact the IT Support Team.

If you choose to delay submission of your application until the following round of the same intake, your application form details will be saved automatically. Note that access to your form will be temporarily disabled from Midnight French Time on the day of the deadline, as the system will shut down for about four days. Access to your form will resume once the temporary shutdown period ends, so you can continue editing it.

We only accept applications submitted electronically, as our entire admissions evaluation process is online. It also allows you to stay informed of the status of your application throughout the process by checking it online.

Due to the large number of applications we receive for each intake and the confidentiality of the deliberations of the Admissions Committee, we are unable to provide individual detailed feedback on rejected applications.

All admitted candidates will receive funding for the first five years of their PhD studies (until the end of June of the fifth year)*. However, we encourage students to seek external financial support to increase the overall award. Students with partial outside financing are eligible for additional supplementary INSEAD scholarship funding.

An external financial resource does not increase one's chances of admission to the programme. As an applicant with external financial support, the applicant must go through the normal process of admissions. 

Visiting students, however, are not eligible for the INSEAD funding and stipend and must pay the appropriate fees (courses and other related programme fees, where applicable). 

*The funding will stop either at the end of June in the 5th year (by which time a candidate is expected to have secured an academic position) or as soon as a candidate begins working at a university, business school, or any other relevant institution while still completing their graduation requirements (if this occurs before the end of June in the 5th year). Annual support, i.e., tuition fee, stipend, research and conference budget, and health insurance coverage, regularly undergoes review. Students enrolled in the INSEAD Summer School get a special rate when staying at the Ermitage Residence. Located in a quiet corner of the INSEAD Europe Campus, the INSEAD residences offer guests a delightful stay on the very edge of the Fontainebleau forest. Bedrooms are furnished with a single bed, a large study area with a direct line telephone and Internet connection to the INSEAD network. Spacious en suite-bathrooms are fully equipped with hairdryer, bath and shower. A private safe, mini fridge and flat-screen satellite television are also provided in all rooms.

Breakfast is primarily continental-style with choices such as cereal, yogurt, fruit, toast, coffee, and tea. Several options are always available at lunch and dinner, including meat, fish, a vegetarian dish and a salad bar. On campus: If you have any dietary requirements, please let us know before the summer school begins so that we can make the necessary arrangements.

Our campus is situated in a safe neighbourhood, with controlled access and 24-hour on campus security. The residences also have a service help desk open 24/7. Students are also issued with room keys upon checking in.

No. Students will not be graded on their work. Upon completion of the programme, each student will receive a certificate of completion during the closing ceremony.

Yes. The Summer School leads to the award of 5 ECTS credits over a two-week period. Students are required to attend all classes and participate in groupwork to earn credits. For eligible credit transfer, students should verify with their home institution that any credits earned will be applicable.

Students will be expected to work in teams for one to two hours per day on average. Prior to the programme, students may have to read some case studies and prepare a short presentation about themselves. Further information about pre-Summer School assignments will be sent at a later stage.

On-demand means the programme is open all year round with no specific session dates. The learning content is available to participants from the start and there is no specific end date (completion within 3 months). Therefore, participants can set a learning pace that suits them best.

Participants will have access to the programme content for 3 months during which completion of all learning modules is necessary in order to receive a Certificate of Completion.

As the programme is on-demand there are no live interactions.

The programme should take approximately 4-6 hours, and potentially may entail up to 2 additional hours/week to complete Action Learning Projects (ALPs). Yes, of course. The learning experience is designed to encourage interaction and simulate as close an experience to face-to-face as possible. Participants would be able to interact with each other through discussion forums, interspersed throughout the platform. In addition, participants would have the option to work on the Action-Learning Project in groups with fellow participants. They would also have the opportunity to interact with each other during the live call with faculty. 

At INSEAD, you never learn alone. To bring this notion alive in the online setting, we have built a learning community comprising of the participants, the faculty and the learning coach. The learning coach plays an integral part in stimulating content discussions, encouraging collaboration between participants as well as guiding the participants closely in the design of their action-learning project.

A learning coach is available throughout the whole programme to help move the discussion forward and exchange with each participant as well as to support them with the learning. Participants can share their learning objectives with the learning coach at the start of the programme, who will follow their progress until the end of the programme.

The learning platform has a leaderboard, which constantly updates the average score of the class and your earned points within the programme. It also shows the badges available and earned in the programme. Typically, points can be earned from watching video lectures, working on reflections, complete quizzes and submitting weekly action learning project. At the end of the programme, your final assignment peer review score will also be added to your total scores in the leaderboard.

Individual vs Group ALP submission

We offer you the option to work on your ALP individually, or in a group on one common project (if you have colleagues from your company taking the programme at the same time as you).

Important note on ALP Groups

You can work in a group for your ALP by forming a team with 2-5 other participants from your company. This means your whole group will work on the same ALP topic. Your learning coach will spend time with the group to give guidance on the ALP. You will also do a group submission for your weekly ALP and final assignment (one group submission per assignment). 

The programme will take between 6 to 8 hours to complete, on average. You will have the option to complete more role-plays if you wish to do so, which would increase the programme length by up to 2 hours. The full programme could be completed in one day or across a longer period, therefore participants can set a learning pace that suits them.

We purposefully manage class sizes to ensure ample faculty-to-participant time. INSEAD faculty would be reading your questions posted on the platform and will be answering your questions during the scheduled live calls. The faculty would be further assisted in these interactions by the learning coach, acting as a bridge between the participants and the faculty. 

INSEAD Lead the Future follows a rigorous learning process. Participants are expected to fulfil a certain minimum criteria to earn the Certificate of Completion.

As participants progress through each core module and elective, reviewing the weekly content, they earn points for each activity. Participants need to have earned a certain minimum number of points at the end of each core module and elective. In addition, participants are also required to submit a core project at the end of the core phase.

Successful completion of individual core and elective activities AND submission of a core project will help participants earn a Certificate of Completion at the end of the programme. 

To successfully complete the programme and earn certification, participants are required to meet all of the following criteria:

• Complete a minimum of 90% of all in-platform learning activities 
• Submit at least 3 weekly ALP assignments per core module and one reflection paper per elective
• Submit a timely Core project
• Attend the live virtual delivery of Effective Decision Making for Leaders
• Attend the three-day Fontainebleau campus Capstone and Graduation

Each core module and elective’s learning platform has a Leaderboard. This Leaderboard panel displays a learner’s personal points and badges earned. The panel shows ‘My score’ relative to your cohort and top scorers.

INSEAD Lead the Future is not eligible for continuing education or professional development units.

Similar to our face-to-face programmes, we have an application and admission process in place for our online programmes to ensure a diverse and motivated group of participants for a rich learning experience. It is important for all participants that the programme brings together participants with an adequate level of general-management experience, professional expertise and business responsibility.

The application form asks prospective participants questions around their professional background and motivations to join the programme. Admissions are granted on a first-come, first-served basis, taking into consideration the applicant’s fit for the programme, his or her learning objectives, potential contribution to the programme and the diversity within the class.

Some open programmes also involve an interview with the programme director as part of the application process. The programme advisor and admissions committee will be able to advise if an interview is necessary when you submit your application.

We recommend that you submit your completed application as early as possible, preferably six weeks prior to programme commencement. The admissions committee will review your application and advise you on the outcome as soon as possible. 

Absolutely. We actually encourage participants to attend in teams in order to maximize the learning and impact. 

Final course grades for most classes will be determined by a mix of class participation, projects and exams. For exams, INSEAD grades on a Standard Normal Curve, also called a Z-Curve, with a mean of 3.0. There are no forced fails. To graduate, participants must maintain a mean grade of 2.1 in core courses and electives.

The curriculum, course structure, class size and composition, and campus exchange opportunities are identical for the August and January intakes. The primary difference is that if you choose to begin in August, you will complete the MBA in ten consecutive months. If you choose to begin in January you will have a two-month summer break during which you can pursue an internship or other endeavours.

No. INSEAD adheres to a strict non-disclosure policy. Your grades will never be shared with recruiters, classmates, or anyone outside of the INSEAD community. During on-campus interviews, recruiters are not permitted to ask about your grades, and you are not permitted to volunteer them. This policy allows you the freedom to challenge yourself and enhance the breadth of your knowledge by taking electives in unfamiliar subject areas without worrying that your grades will influence your job prospects

There is no typical day as the schedule will change every day throughout the year. During the first two periods when students take their core courses, they often have 2 to 3 classes a day of 90 minutes each, Monday to Friday, starting at the earliest at 8.30am and finishing at the latest by 7.00pm. Students also have assignments and group projects, career counselling sessions and extra-curriculum activities. For the last three periods, each student has their own academic schedule depending on the electives he or she has chosen, with the same amount of assignments and group work, and typically increasing time spent on career related activities.

These universities cover a significant portion of the CFA Program Candidate Body of Knowledge, including its ethical and professional standards, in their degree programmes. The INSEAD MBA programme is recognized as CFA partner, because of the large number of finance core and electives in its program. As part of the partnership, INSEAD students are entitled to apply for scholarships, have access to CFA Institute curricula, journals, webcasts, and other educational resources. Each student will have access to a specially prepared online Level I sample exam.

INSEAD offers more than 75 electives across both campuses, giving you the chance to construct a tailor-made MBA programme that fits your personal and career goals. We do not have specialisations or majors. You are free to pursue a generalist path towards management or specialise in a particular area such as finance or entrepreneurship. However, regardless of the path you decide to take during your elective period, everybody graduates with the same general MBA degree diploma
