2. What happens after I create an account?

Shortly after signing up, you'll receive an email with your login info. The first time you log into your account, you'll be prompted to take a short prescreen survey. This short survey helps ensure that COR collects high-quality data. You must complete this before signing up for other paid online studies.

3. Complete your pre-screen survey

The survey will ask you about some demographic information and your Singapore bank account details. This will be used to transfer any monetary compensation should you participate in COR's future studies. This information is kept strictly confidential and only COR's Administrative Team has access to it.

Your Rights & Responsibilities

Ethical Treatment

All studies conducted at the INSEAD Centre for Organisational Research have been validated by INSEAD’s Ethical Committee. The goal of the ethical guidelines is to protect the individual participant, the school and the researcher.

Privacy

Your participation is anonymous and it is not possible to link your responses to your name.

Informed Consent

Before each study, you will receive a consent form. After each study, you will receive an explanation of the study together with our contact information.

Voluntary Participation

Your participation in the studies is completely voluntary. You will be allowed to enter into and withdraw from a study freely and without any pressure from researchers.

Reasonable Compensation

You will receive reasonable compensation for your participation in the studies. The compensation amount defers based on the studies and will be communicated to you before you begin the study. More details on payment timing is in the FAQ section.

Be punctual

If you are running late to a lab session, please email the appropriate researcher with a valid reason. Late participants might not be allowed to enter the lab. In addition, participants who have accumulated three or more unexcused no-shows will not be able to view or sign up for studies in the future.

Stay informed

Please have a thorough understanding of COR policies, check your email regularly for study-specific information (announcements from researchers, study cancellations, etc.), and read the consent form before participating in a study. Please do not hesitate to ask researchers any questions. If you have a general inquiry about the COR, please send an email to [email protected].

Uphold confidentiality

After completing a study, please do not disclose any of its details to people you know. Likewise, please do not ask others to provide details about studies they have already completed.

Frequently Asked Questions

General Information

What will I be asked to do during a study?

This will vary considerably from one study to another, as organisational researchers employ a wide range of methods to collect data. Some activities include filling out questionnaires, performing various tasks on a computer and taking part in discussions or interviews. These activities may take place online or in person. Before signing up for studies on Sona, you will be able to read a short description of what each study entails.

Will any studies require long-term commitment?

No. The most of our lab studies only consist of one session. It is very unlikely that you will be asked to visit COR more than three times to complete a study.

When will I be paid for completing the study?

The payment for completing the study will not be immediate as finance will need some time to process the claims. There is no need to send us an email about your completion as the system will note your completion.

We aim to transfer the payment to you within a month from the day the study closes.

We will not entertain requests for transfers any earlier than amonth from the day the study closes. Please ensure that your bank account details are up to date. If you have changed your bank account details, please email the COR manager at: [email protected].

What is Sona?

Sona is an online platform used by many universities and institutions around the world to recruit participants for research studies. COR has its own Sona site, where members of our participant pool can view and sign up for studies offered by our researchers. Once you have a Sona account, you will also receive email notifications regarding currently available studies, your upcoming study appointments, and so on.

Participation Status & Compensation

Do I need to email anyone after I complete the study?

No. There is no need to send us an email about your completion as the system will note your completion.

How do I check my participation status for a study?

To view all your study sign-ups (past and present) as well as your “credit status” (i.e., participation status) for each of these studies, please log into Sona and click on “My Schedule/Status” in the menu bar. There are four possible types of credit status: “Awaiting Action from Researcher”, “Participated”, “Failure to Appear — Excused”, and “Failure to Appear — Unexcused”.

What do my “points” or "credits" on Sona mean?

For COR studies, you receive cash, and not credits, as a token of appreciation for your participation. Hence, the system displays '0 credits'. Also, credits do not indicate the cash rewards you have accumulated thus far. Your compensation should be credited to your bank account within a month of the study's closure.

The “points” you see on Sona actually do not mean much. Points are arbitrary numerical values that participants can potentially earn by completing studies. At universities where students are required to participate in studies as part of a course, professors or researchers may use the point system on Sona to keep track of how many different studies (or how many hours of research) students have completed. Since COR is not associated with any specific courses at INSEAD, our participants are always compensated with real money, and never with course credits.Hence, your points do not translate to anything tangible. You should only pay attention to whether your participation status on Sona is accurate (see the FAQ entry above), rather than how many points you have received.

I participated in a study but have not received payment. What should I do?

The payment for completing the study will not be immediate as finance will need some time to process the claims. There is no need to send us an email about your completion as the system will note your completion.

We aim to transfer the payment to you within a month from the day the survey closes.

We will not entertain requests for transfers any earlier than amonth from the day the study closes. Please ensure that your bank account details are up to date. If you have changed your bank account details, please email the COR manager at: [email protected].
