Biography
Sophie joined INSEAD as a Pre-doc researcher in November 2022. She graduated from Rice University in 2019 magma cum laude with a bachelor's degree in Mathematical Economics Analysis and in Visual and Dramatic Arts. Prior to joining INSEAD, Sophie worked as a credit modeling analyst in Bohai Bank (China), focusing on Possibility of Defaults in corporate banking and credit scenarios in Stress Testing. She was also in the bank’s research team for BASEL III advanced approach transitioning. Sophie expects to earn her CFA designation in 2023.
Sophie’s intended research areas include corporate defaulting, financial reports in debt analysis, fraudulent accounting, ESG, and risk management. Sophie has conducted research with R, Python, and Stata. She is most fluent in R, which has been her working language. She is also interested in learning about more areas in financial economics to facilitate forming integrated research ideas as she is planning to pursue a higher degree in Accounting.
