Corporate Strategy, Non-market Strategy, Big Data & Machine Learning, Corporate Social Responsibility
May-Anne Very is a PhD Candidate in Strategy at INSEAD.
Her research explores how firms can use corporate strategy, in particular mergers and acquisitions (M&A), to integrate social and environmental sustainability at the core of their activities. While the growing debate on corporate social responsibility (CSR) has mostly focused on the why, less is known about how firms can change to improve their social and environmental impact. In her dissertation, May-Anne explores whether and to which extent firms can use M&A to do so, focusing on the Food & Beverage industry.
From a methodological perspective, May-Anne has developed a passion for big data and machine learning. In her work, she uses natural language processing and high performance computing to examine the antecedents and implications of CSR-oriented acquisitions. Leveraging extensive quantitative data from multiple sources, she runs in-depth analyses of firm performance, uncovers underlying dynamics and investigates the transition of the Food & Beverage industry toward sustainability.
May-Anne holds a M.Sc. in Management from HEC Paris and a M.Sc. in Economics (M1) from Ecole Polytechnique / Université Paris-Saclay. She also earned a Bachelor in Law from Université Versailles Saint-Quentin. Prior to joining academia, she has gained international experience in M&A and consulting across Europe and Asia.
