Job Description

Associate Director, Legal (Commercial Legal Counsel)

Full Time - Permanent - Based in Singapore

Ref: HR1

As the Business School for the World, INSEAD brings together people, cultures and ideas from around the world to change lives and transform organisations. The unique global perspective and multicultural diversity of INSEAD are reflected in all aspects of its research and teaching.

Within the Legal department of INSEAD, an exciting opportunity has arisen for an Associate Director, Legal (Commercial Legal Counsel) to join us on a full-time and permanent basis at our Asia Campus in Singapore.

Reporting to the Global Director of Legal Affairs, the Associate Director will act as a senior business/commercial Legal Counsel providing legal expertise in business law for INSEAD and its relevant entities across our global locations of France, Singapore, the UAE and the USA. The role will act as a centre of expertise for legal advice and contract negotiation to all departments of the school across all locations, supporting our business and commercial teams, digital innovation, and our Advancement fundraising activities.

Daily work will include drafting, reviewing and negotiating a wide range of international contracts such as academic services, distribution, licensing, partnerships, alliances, gift agreement and procurement. Success in the role will come from acting as a true business partner to the different departments when providing legal advice and solutions on regulations and contracts.

The ideal candidate should have the following profile:

  • Have a higher education degree in Business Law and the ability to work in an international environment through several jurisdictions. International experience will be a must.
  • Have a work experience of 5-8 years in a similar position either within a law firm or in-house in a multinational/common law jurisdiction.
  • Excellent English level (written and spoken) with practice in writing and negotiating in an international environment.
  • Ability to adapt to different working situations, cultures and various stakeholders.
  • Expertise in intellectual property (trademark and copyright).
  • Experience working in a non-profit is a plus but not essential.
  • Very analytical, proactive with a high sense of customer service – must be able to prioritise high volumes of work.
  • Good interpersonal skills and a good team spirit, while being autonomous.

If this sounds like the right role for you, please forward your resume and cover letter to [email protected] quoting reference HR1.

Kindly note that only shortlisted candidates will be contacted.
