Over the past 17 years, INSEAD Humanitarian Research Group (HRG) has been one of the world-leading research groups on humanitarian logistics. We actively collaborate with major humanitarian organizations to profoundly analyse logistical challenges and propose solutions. Key collaborators include UNICEF, WFP, UNHCR, the Red Cross Movement, MSF, OXFAM, World Vision, Plan International, North Star Alliance, and Marie Stopes International. We are specialized in five key areas:
- Disaster Preparedness & Response
- Access & Equity in Healthcare
- Public-Private Partnerships
- Asset Management & Deployment
- Environment & Waste
The group consists of 7-12 researchers and has a collegial and constructive working environment. HRG is also connected to a vast network of world leading experts in fields like strategy, logistics, marketing, and health policy, and many humanitarian organizations.
As a research associate, you will participate in research and consulting projects on real and urgent challenges in the humanitarian sector. In small research teams, you will closely cooperate with humanitarian organizations to analyse their problems, gather data, perform the analyses, and present and/or implement results. Projects may offer the opportunity of doing field trips to do research “on the ground”.
The position provides a unique opportunity to work with a team of passionate experts at one of the most renowned business schools in the world, to start a career in the humanitarian aid sector, and/or to pursue a career in academics or consulting.
- Master degree in operations management, supply chain management, logistics, operations research, econometrics, industrial engineering or a similar degree preferred
- Fluency in written and oral English
- Excellent analytical skills
- Knowledge of an analytics software package like Matlab or R is preferred
- Knowledge of qualitative research techniques is a plus
- Ability to work independently and in small teams
- Excellent work ethic
- Excellent organizational and oral/written communication skills
Preferred Start Date: February 2019 and September 2019
Conditions: one year contract. Renewable
