INSEAD is currently looking to hire a QHSE Engineer within our Campus Services Department. This is a permanent and full-time position that will be based at our Europe Campus in Fontainebleau, France.

In this newly-created role, the QHSE Engineer will be responsible to assist in the development of procedures and operational guidance within all HSE (Health, Safety and Environmental) issues concerning the Fontainebleau campus and buildings. It will oversee day-to-day operational elements as well as HSE-related reporting as required by internal and external parties.


Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Overseeing all areas of health and safety compliance across the Fontainebleau campus. This will include current installations, as well as future initiatives that will emerge with the expansion of the school. Ensure compliance of equipment and technical installations with existing regulations.
  • Coordinate inspections related to the compliance of our facilities and administer the documents and reports provided by internal/external auditors and control offices (DTA, ATEX, and other mandatory diagnostics).
  • Coordinate security commission visits and ensure that the campus meets the standards for ERP and labour code. Also monitor the school’s security contract.
  • Examine permits, licenses, applications, and records to ensure compliance with HSE requirements.
  • Prepare, organize, and maintain inspection records. Investigate complaints and suspected violations. Monitor follow-up actions in cases where violations are found, and review compliance monitoring reports.
  • Support the specific HSE plans and procedures as assigned by manager/supervisor.
  • Inform the management team and about control regulations and inspection findings, and explain how violations can be corrected.
  • Implement ISO certification and labelling and work together with Human Resources for the Document Unique (work related risk assessment).
  • Act as overall Health, Safety and Environmental Expert for the school.

To succeed in the role you will need:

  • Bachelors degree or equivalent education within Engineering or a related major.
  • A recognized professional qualification in health & safety management is preferred (e.g. Registered WSH Officer) and a recognized relevant professional qualification in fire safety and environmental management would also be a distinct advantage.
  • At least 5 years’ experience of QHSE operations.
  • High level of knowledge related to building infrastructure, facilities management and technical maintenance.
  • A knowledge of French regulatory requirements.
  • Excellent communication ability in both English and French – you must be able to communicate in English to internal INSEAD stakeholders and in French to local contractors, vendors and authorities.
