The INSEAD Healthcare Management Initiative invites applications for two Post-Doctoral Research Fellow positions. The initiative is led and supported by INSEAD Technology and Operations Management (TOM) area. The position would be working with faculty at the Fontainebleau France campus. Please clearly state the position for which you are applying.

A.         Analytics for assessing new health technologies: This would extend other recent work in the group on adaptive trials (e.g., sequential learning to improve the efficiency of learning/optimization), value-based trials (to improve learning and the optimal stopping of trials relative to cost-health benefit criteria), precision medicine (to quickly identify the right treatment for the right person), and price negotiations (rewarding ‘better’ treatments with better reimbursement). Applicants that can connect multiple approaches to machine learning are encouraged.

B.         Improving access and impact of new health technologies in low- and middle-income countries: Many innovations in biotech and medicine are focused on developed countries. This position will focus on the specificity of bringing biologics and other new health technologies to the context of low- and middle-income countries, using the lens of business model innovation. The position will explore the impact of operational choices (supply chain, logistics, human capital) on care access, capacity development, and care quality.

Post-docs will be expected to do innovative, rigorous research and to interact with companies or health care providers to make the research relevant. They will have the opportunity to discuss with other faculty, PhD students, and research staff with similar interests, such as those in INSEAD’s Humanitarian Research Group and the INSEAD Africa Initiative.


Candidates for a Post-Doctoral Research Fellow position would ideally have a PhD in operations research, operations management, supply chain management, or a related field. A quantitative background in other disciplines (e.g., economics, computer science, statistics) combined with a passion to drive businesses towards a more sustainable future would be equally compatible for the positions. Some experience working with researchers and firms is a benefit. All candidates should fit the following profile:
