Marketing Strategy meets Wall Street Conference
Marketing Strategy meets Wall Street VI Conference
17-18 June 2019
INSEAD Europe Campus
Welcome
INSEAD is proud to host the next instalment of the Marketing Strategy Meets Wall Street Conference from June 17th (Monday) to June 18th (Tuesday), 2019 in the Fontainebleau Campus.
The "Marketing Strategy Meets Wall Street" conference is a very successful, international conference series. The inaugural conference (held at Emory University (2009)) and subsequent biennial meetings (Boston University (2011), Goethe University Frankfurt (2013), Singapore Management University (2015)), and AMA Pre-Conference at San Francisco (2017) have attracted approximately 120 researchers each.
As with previous years, the "Marketing Strategy Meets Wall Street" conference series brings together researchers interested in exploring the marketing-finance interface. Marketing investments represent an important component of corporate expenditures and off balance sheet, intangible market-based assets comprise an increasing share of a company’s market value. In recent years, there has been a renewed emphasis in demonstrating that marketing investments can translate into profitable growth. The challenges in marketing measurement today are not limited to improving marketing mix models, to assessing returns to marketing, or to examining the right metrics, but creating the right combination of analytics, research, and business case-based findings to guide both effective strategy and implementation. At the same time, the rise of new channels, such as the Internet and mobile communication, and the increasing importance of word- of-mouth and sponsorship, make marketing resource allocation decisions much more complex. CMO’s and marketing executives are increasingly under incredible pressure to make every dollar count. Now more than ever, it is imperative to demonstrate the ROI of marketing activity. Effective marketing calls for justification of marketing investment decisions ex ante, and evaluation of investment outcomes ex post. This conference aims to bring together scholars and practitioners in marketing, accounting and finance to address these key problems. Moreover, this conference will have sessions on the application of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the marketing-finance interface.

Special Section of International Journal of Research in Marketing on the Marketing Finance Interface
We are delighted to announce that the International Journal of Research in Marketing (IJRM) is collaborating with "Marketing Strategy Meets Wall Street" Conference on a special section to include manuscripts based on accepted submissions to the conference. We are open to submissions that address important and substantive questions related to any topic on the marketing-finance interface. However, we are particularly open to submissions with the application of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the marketing-finance interface. Such submissions could, for example, enhance our (1) understanding how marketing decisions using AI affect consumer decision making and consumer behavior and how these decisions and behaviors affect financial markets, and (2) understanding how marketing decisions using AI affect customer decision making and behavior in FinTech firms.
Authors of submissions accepted for the conference may submit their manuscripts for this special section of IJRM by Nov 1, 2019. All manuscripts submitted to IJRM will go through the regular review process. Consistent with IJRM policy, the Journal will not consider submissions for the MSMWS special section in the Journal that have been previously rejected at IJRM. Note that acceptance for the conference does not automatically mean acceptance for the journal. Also, note that you can submit to the special section without attending the conference.
Important Information:
- Submission Deadline for IJRM Special Section 1 November 2019
- Authors who participate in MSMWS VI could use feedback from conference reviewers, discussants and delegates to develop completed papers for submission to the IJRM special section.
- Authors may present a paper at the MSMWS VI conference and choose to submit the paper to another journal.
- All papers can be submitted for the IJRM Special section irrespective of submission for MSMWS VI or conference attendance.
