Svenja Weber
Affiliate Professor of Organisational Behaviour
Svenja is Affiliate Professor of Organisational Behaviour at INSEAD, where she teaches Psychological Issues in Management in the MBA, and directs experiential leadership development programmes for global corporations in the energy, technology, and luxury goods industries. For the last decade, she has served on the faculty and coaching staff of numerous INSEAD open-enrolment and company-specific programmes, including the Executive MBA, the Management Acceleration Programme, Advanced Management Programme and the High Impact Leadership Programme.
Svenja’s writing and practice aims to develop responsible and effective leaders by helping them understand and work with the systems psychodynamics of their work and institutions. That is, how leaders’ experiences and ambitions, as well as the pushes and pulls of their surroundings, shape who they are and how they act. Her directing, teaching, and coaching draw on extensive experience in multinational corporations, as well as her academic background in clinical and organisational psychology.
As a senior learning and development manager for Daimler and HSBC, Svenja led global initiatives on organizational development, change management, and talent assessment and development. Prior to those corporate roles, she trained and worked as a clinician in Germany and the United States. This unique combination of experience and expertise allows Svenja to pay equal attention to personal, group, and organizational factors that affect leaders’ growth and success.
Svenja’s current work focuses on supporting leadership transitions in general, and those of women leaders in particular. For the past decade, she has been involved in the design and delivery of educational and coaching programmes for women high-potential and executives, that take into account both individual and systemic challenges women leaders face.
She studied clinical psychology and psychoanalysis at the University of Bremen and at Stanford University, California. She also holds an Executive Masters with distinction from INSEAD. Born and raised in Germany, she now lives in London with her husband and two daughters, from where she commutes to INSEAD’s campuses in Europe, Asia, and the Middle East.
