Supply Chains in Crisis
Preparing for Short-Term Recovery and Building Long-Term Resilience
If you have any questions about Supply Chains in Crisis, please get in touch with the Programme Advisors team.
Although supply chain disruptions have become more frequent in the last decade, never before have they reached the scale and duration experienced as a consequence of the COVID-19 epidemic. From abrupt demand slumps to factory stoppages, supply chains today are under shock.
Supply Chains in Crisis will help business executives and supply chain managers navigate these turbulent times by discussing and exploring strategies to prepare for short-term recovery and to build long-term supply chain resilience.
To help organisations recover and recover fast, you will be guided through a systematic approach to estimate the impact of supplier disruptions on business performance. You will learn how to reposition your inventory and reconfigure your supply chains if suppliers go out of business. You will also learn how to navigate through the peaks of the epidemic and how to adapt to supply chain stop-and-go pace of recovery.
Since a "good" crisis should never be wasted, we will then reflect on long-term strategies to build supply chain resilience, identifying risk-mitigation strategies that have either a minimal negative impact or a positive impact on efficiency, such as segmentation, regionalisation, and chaining.
Supply Chains in Crisis forms part of INSEAD’s innovative GO-Live portfolio – a completely new way to learn from the Business School for the World.
Over two half day sessions, the programme will address the following areas:
Module 1: Preparing for Short-Term Supply Chain Recovery
- Identify and discuss the challenges brought by the COVID-19 epidemic on supply chains
- Learn a method to assess the points of vulnerability in a supply chain network and prioritise efforts to ensure a smooth recovery
- Discuss the efficacy of various supply chain risk management strategies to recover quickly from the crisis.
Module 2: Building Long-Term Supply Chain Resilience
- Explore a framework to match supply chain resilience strategies to the business strategic priorities
- Discuss the efficacy of various tactics to build resiliency at the level of either the product itself or its supply chain
- Outline a process to monitor resilience and develop Business Continuity Plans.
