Topic: Organizations in the Age of Algorithms

Synopsis: Professor Phanish will present and discuss his forthcoming book “Re-Humanize: Keeping organizations human centric in the age of algorithms” (Penguin, Fall 2024). Organizations are a means to help us accomplish collectively what we cannot individually. But they are also social contexts that are the natural habitat for homo sapiens. Prof. Phanish argues that advances in algorithmic technologies, particularly AI, can alter the balance between these two roles of organizations in our societies. He proposes that we can preserve the balance by thinking carefully about how to absorb algorithmic technologies into our organization designs
