Dear Alumni,

We are proud to announce that the INSEAD Alumni Forum Europe 2018 will be held in the Netherlands.  We aim to gather a great crowd of INSEAD alumni, INSEAD faculty and inspirational speakers to relive the INSEAD experience.

The world is changing rapidly. Whether it is the geopolitical landscape, the growing demands on our environment, new technologies that are changing our lives and work, leaders need new ways of managing their companies and take a more proactive role as business leaders in society.

This forum will focus on a number of these major challenges. A great line-up of speakers will present how they are dealing with these challenges and how their companies take a leading role in shaping our society for the future. Our aim is to inspire you with these stories, but even more so, to get you into action mode to become one of these future leaders.  

The venue for the forum, Grand Hotel Huis ter Duin in Noordwijk (beach town close to Amsterdam and Schiphol international airport), is a unique location and has all facilities under one roof, making it the perfect networking and bonding place for our forum and other activities, such as the gala party on Saturday. You can also bring your family, making it a great weekend getaway.

Preliminary Programme

Significant changes are going on in the world. The world population is expected to grow significantly in the next decades leading to more pressure on our planet. The consequences are visible everyday: more extreme weather and rising water levels. Together with increasing inequality in the world we see more pressure on society and politics due to immigration from all sorts of reasons. How can we stay safe? What will happen because of exponential growth of technology? Will we still have jobs now that AI is taking away lots of jobs. What will this mean for the future of work, employability, equality and, ultimately, us?

This forum will touch upon all of these subjects. We need leadership and a clear role of business in society to tackle these issues. This forum will make you aware of the issues, inspire you with great examples of new leadership and activate you in an interactive program to help you take the lead in making positive impact on our society and the world at large.

 

Friday afternoon - Awareness

The Friday programme will be mainly about raising awareness. The afternoon will be opened by a visionary speaker who will paint a picture of global changes and challenges and what they might mean. Furthermore, there will be several key note speeches and interviews from people in politics (Frans Timmermans, Vice President of European Commission), business (Wiebe Draijer, CEO of Rabobank, and Jessica Uhl, CFO of Shell International) and academics (Louise Fresco, Chairwoman Wageningen University). Bernard Hammelburg from BNR News Radio will facilitate the afternoon and will undoubtedly take care of the right level of interaction.

The program will be closed with a lovely dinner at the beach house Breakers.


Saturday morning - Inspiration

As the Saturday is all about inspiration and activation, we will start early at the beach with an energizer such as a bootcamp or yoga.
For the morning program we have prepared several TedX like speeches. Prominent speakers from international politics and business will share their thoughts and opinions about the developments in their worlds, the dilemma’s they face and the solutions they have.

 

Saturday afternoon - Activation

In the afternoon participants can join electives and participate in debates, games and simulation. Participants will experience deep dives into the forum topics in a highly interactive and practical way. The electives are on topics like:

  • Energy transition
  • Inequality & social mobility
  • AI & the future of work
  • Sustainability
  • Impact entrepreneurship & investing

And more….

Each elective is hosted by a great selection of INSEAD professors, social entrepreneurs and business experts. 
We close off the day in a plenary setting by one or more social entrepreneurs with their inspirational story, showing that business and society can go hand in hand.
In the evening, a gala dinner with after party (separate ticket required) will be organised in Huis ter Duin.

 

Sunday - Social activities

On Sunday, you – and your family – will have the opportunity to visit different cities where we have organized sight seeings. But you could also just hang around at the beach with your family or your classmates.
We will organize transport to Amsterdam and the airport for your convenience. The Sunday program is still developing so we will add more options later.

Transfer tickets

Tickets are available for transport to and from the hotel and the airport.  Tickets are one way for one person.  More information on timing will be communicated later.

Friday and Saturday dinner tickets

Tickets are available for guests attending the dinners on Friday and/or Saturday only.  These tickets do not give access to the Forum.

Ticket pricing

Booking policy:
• You will only be admitted to the event if you have booked and pre-paid for your tickets. At-the-door tickets will not be available for the forum or social events on 8-10 June 2018.

Cancellations:
• 100% refunds will be available up to and including 1 April 2018.
• 50% refunds will be available from 2 April up to and including 20 May 2018.
• No refunds will be available after 20 May 2018 but ticket transfers are accepted.
• Members of any National Alumni Association (NAA) qualify for ‘member’ tickets at the  discounted rate as published at the event website. To join the Dutch Alumni Association please click . To join another NAA go to MyINSEAD.
• To book a member ticket your membership must be current at the time of booking. Non-members who book members tickets will automatically be cancelled.

You will have to book your hotel rooms at the venue of Huis ter Duin directly through their reservation system. Their reservation and cancellation policies will be applicable. Please check their website.

INSEAD may engage professional photographers for this event. All sessions will be filmed.
