Panel: Digital Innovators
We are now starting our third decade of digital disruption.  The first decade of disruption created new forms of digital companies such as Amazon, who disrupted book retail and extended its reach to encompass almost all sectors in retail.  The key value creator was in the ability to offer information.  The second decade of disruption created companies such as Facebook and AirBnB, where value creation was in the social connections.  What is our theory of the future for the third wave of innovations from digital enterprises?  We invite our panel of experienced digital entrepreneurs to share their theory of the future with a short 5 minute presentation of their models, followed by a panel discussion, moderated by Professor Cha.  Professor Cha will also offer her view of the third wave of digital innovation for value creation.

Panel: Finance Disrupted: How Fintech is Changing the Way that Three Billion People Bank
Whether it is trade finance, cross-border payments, or even paying for groceries, there are few parts of our financial lives that have not been touched by the growth of fintech in Asia. Increasingly these advances in finance are becoming much more than products, but lifestyle platforms, where finance is seamlessly built-in to people’s phones and lives. But is it all for the good or is ‘fintech’ just a fad? Should fintech companies have access to such large amounts of data? What is the role of traditional financial institutions in the future? Where do regulators and regulations fit?

In this engaging one-hour panel session, fintech experts and practitioners will come together to address some of the key opportunities and challenges for the future of fintech in Asia answering these questions and more.

Social activities for alumni and partners

Saturday, 18th Nov - Partner Social Activities

Option 1: Hong Kong Cultural Kaleidoscope & Victoria Peak

Begin your day the traditional Chinese way. Learn the ancient Chinese exercise of Tai Chi (Shadow Boxing) under the tutelage of a bona fide Tai Chi master. This martial art, Tai Chi, with its slow, graceful movements, is suitable for all ages and promotes improved balance, muscle tone, breathing and digestion.

It remains one of the favourite methods of keeping fit in Hong Kong.

Next, learn about the Chinese tea-dinking etiquette – Hong Kong style! The best way is to visit the Museum of Tea Ware followed by a specialty teashop for an introduction of tea drinking culture, different varieties of tea and its proper preparation where the techniques of tea brewing are taught. Get a taste for the perfect cup of tea with exquisite dim sum (literal meaning “touch the heart”).

A journey to Hong Kong is not complete without experiencing the panoramic bird’s eye view from Victoria Peak. We offer you a chance to ride on a century old Peak Tram to get to the Peak, it is the 1st cable funicular in Asia providing a direct route to the Peak which is one of Hong Kong's top tourist attractions. Stroll around Victoria Peak on this leisurely 3.5 km circuit road to enjoy stunning views of the surrounding city skyline, the world-famous Victoria Harbour, Kowloon, towering skyscrapers, and gain a sense of Hong Kong's rich colonial heritage. Enjoy our local delicacies before returning to your hotel in the late afternoon.

Tour cost: HK$700.00 per person (maximum 45 participants)
Includes: All necessary transportations, Tai Chi Class, Tea Demonstration with snacks, one way cable car to the Victoria Peak, local delicacies and English speaking guide.
Remarks: Easy, walk on a good footpath.

Option 2: Chinese Dim Sum Cooking Class

Since the days of the Silk Road, Dim Sum has been an integral part of Chinese culture. For Hong Kong people, Dim Sum goes hand in hand with Yum Cha (drinking tea). Today, it is popular for Chinese families to gather on weekend mornings to indulge in Dim Sum, sip tea and chat with each other.

Dim Sum is a collection of delightful, mouth-watering Chinese dishes served in steaming bamboo baskets and eaten with multiple pots of Chinese tea. Dishes range from steamed pork buns, shrimp dumplings, beef balls and spring rolls, to the local favourite of pan-fried squid with spicy salt.

Attend a cooking class conducted by a Dim Sum master chef. This is a golden opportunity for you to learn types of dim sum, technique and its hidden secrets and recipes.

Tour cost: HK$700 per person (maximum 30 participants)
Includes: Roundtrip transfer to and from hotel, cooking class, ingredients, recipes, apron, refreshment and English speaking guide service.

Sunday, 19th Nov - Alumni & Partners Social Activities

The experience starts with a 25-minute cable car ride from Tung Chung to Ngong Ping 360, a culturally themed village high atop a mountain plateau on Lantau Island. It's here at the Ngong Ping Village, that you can see the breathtaking Giant Buddha – the world's tallest outdoor seated bronze statue.

Move onto Tai O village, which is famed for its generations of fishermen who build their houses on stilts. It is also known as the Venice of Hong Kong. The houses are interconnected, forming a tightly knit community that literally lives on the water. Their enchanting world is a photographer's paradise. Lunch will be served in a local Chinese restaurant.

Tour cost: HK$885.00 per person (maximum 45 participants)
Includes: All necessary transportations, one way cable car to Ngong Ping Village, Po Lin Monastery, boat ride in Tai O Village, lunch at local restaurant and English speaking guide service.

Option 2: Dragon's Back Hike + Lunch at Thai Seafood Restaurant

This walk starts in Hong Kong Island's largest country park, the beautiful Tai Tam. The hike will take you across a magnificent reservoir built in 1888, and sheltered by verdant hillsides that rise dramatically from the sea.
A cool path takes you through shady groves of bamboo and lush woodlands accompanied by birdsong, eventually emerging into open hillsides covered with wild azaleas and rose myrtle.

Upon reaching the spectacular Shek O Country Park, you will follow the rugged undulating spinal ridge of the Dragon’s Back. The walk is filled with breathtaking views of the dazzling seas, the distant Nine Pins Islands, sandy Big Wave Bay, Tai Tam Harbour and both the Stanley and Red Hill peninsulas.

The walk concludes with a stroll down through shaded tunnels of exotic flora. Enjoy a delicious lunch at a popular Thai seafood restaurant before returning to the city by coach.
