Ernest-Antoine Seillière is a graduate of the Ecole Nationale d'Administration, He served as a French diplomat for ten years, before working in close collaboration with Prime Minister Jacques Chaban-Delmas. He subsequently took a year off to lecture at Harvard University's Center for International Affairs in the US.
Ernest-Antoine Seillière joined his family's firm, WENDEL Group, in 1976. He restructured the group's historical activity as a large steel producer into one of the main European investment company.
Ernest-Antoine Seillière acted as President of the MEDEF (French business confederation) from 1997 until 2005 and President of the European Business Confederation, BUSINESSEUROPE from 2005 to 2009.
He has been CEO and Chairman of Wendel and member of the Supervisory Board of Bureau Veritas, Peugeot SA and Hermès International.
Ernest-Antoine Seillière is Grand Cross of the order of Merit (Portugal) and Commander of the order of Legion d'Honneur (France), Orange-Nassau (Netherlands) and Leopold (Belgium).
