INSEAD Deans Mark Five-Year Partnership with Tsinghua University on China Visit

Business School for the World strengthens presence in China with expanded offerings and launch of TIEMBA alumni association

Abu Dhabi, Fontainebleau, France and Singapore, 5 September 2011 – INSEAD Dean, Dipak C. Jain and Deputy Dean for Degree Programmes, Peter Zemsky, are visiting China in early September to explore expanding the school’s educational partnership with Tsinghua University, hold master classes, and attend the inauguration of the TIEMBA Alumni Association marking INSEAD’s five years of offering a dual-degree executive MBA degree. The deans will visit Shanghai September 4-5 and Beijing September 5-7, offering master classes in both locations.

‘INSEAD wants to further expand our presence in China as we see it as an extremely important market for developing the leaders of tomorrow,’ said INSEAD Dean, Dipak C. Jain. ‘We are extremely proud of our accomplishments to date in the region and look forward to building on our partnership with Tsinghua University.’

Launched in 2007, the TIEMBA programme enables participants at both schools to complete a dual-degree Executive MBA programme. The Masters level degree programme takes place on Tsinghua’s campus in Beijing, China (six weeks) and INSEAD’s campuses in Fontainebleau, France (two weeks) and Singapore (three weeks). Participants study both Eastern and Western approaches to prepare for global, senior management roles and develop their leadership skills and confidence.

‘The TIEMBA is a conscious effort by INSEAD and Tsinghua to forge an international programme for Asia’s business community,’ said INSEAD Deputy Dean Peter Zemsky. ‘The launch of the programme was an important step for INSEAD's campus in Singapore because it represented the school’s first degree programme expansion from this hub. We will continue to attract some of the best and the brightest students to our programme as we further grow our partnership and executive education offerings in this important region.’

On 5 September 2011, Dean Jain and Deputy Dean Peter Zemsky will attend the launch of the TIEMBA Alumni Association, with local Global Executive MBA (GEMBA) participants and INSEAD alumni. The newly created association will provide an opportunity for TIEMBA participants to connect following their programme experience, and will offer a comprehensive range of professional and social activities to support their network.

INSEAD’s Asia strategy includes the introduction of new executive programmes for the region on the school’s Asia campus in Singapore. INSEAD recently added intakes for its Global EMBA (GEMBA) and Advanced Management Programme (AMP). Later in the 2011-2012 academic year, INSEAD will further expand its Executive Education portfolio with the addition of an Executive Masters in Clinical Approaches to Management on the school’s Asia Campus.
