Description
The MANAGE simulation is concerned with an industrial company which makes and sells two products on the domestic and export markets. Each company competes against five others, both economically and in the labour market.

A company is represented by five or six participants who must jointly make the best marketing, financial, production and industrial relations decisions at simulated three month intervals.

The audio-visual presentation (available in either "cut" or "dissolve" versions) puts participants in the picture very quickly. Another valuable feature of this business game is that it allows participants to make use of decision-making programmes (models for forecasting, financial planning, budget forecasting, calculation of financial ratios or return on investment).
Pedagogical Objectives
For the MANAGE participant the pedagogical objectives are:
  • to experience, on a limited scale, the problems faced by functional heads of a company and to define their strategy and planning procedures based on a set of coherent objectives

  • to understand the interaction of the various functions

  • to learn to give appropriate priority to the different tasks to be accomplished

  • to learn to compromise between contradictory objectives in order to reach coherent decisions in a dynamic and unstable environment.
