Dr. J. Stewart Black is Associate Dean, Executive Development Programs INSEAD the Americas, Affiliate Professor of Organizational Behaviour at INSEAD, Executive Director of the INSEAD Center for Human Resources in Asia (ICHRA). Prior to joining INSEAD, Dr. Black was Professor of Business Administration at the University of Michigan.

Dr. Black is a leading instructor and scholar in strategy, change management, globalization and leadership. As a result, he has consulted with and done seminars for a variety of international firms, including Amcor, American Express, Black & Decker, Boeing, Dofasco Steel, ExxonMobil, General Motors, Goldman Sachs, Guidant, Honda Motors, IBM, Johnson & Johnson, Kellogg, Lucent, Motorola, NASA, Nissan Motors, Solar Turbines, Suncor Energy, Sunkyong, TRW.


He is the co-author of a top-selling textbook, "Management: Meeting New Challenges," and ten other highly regarded books, including "Leading Strategic Change: Breaking through the Brain Barrier." His articles have appeared in both managerial and academic publications: Business Week, The Wall Street Journal, Fortune, Financial Times, Academy of Management Review, Academy of Management Journal, Human Resource Management, Journal of International Business Studies.

Dr. Black received his undergraduate degree in psychology and English and his master's degree from the business school at Brigham Young University. He received his PhD in Business Administration from the University of California, Irvine.

While Dr. Black has done research and worked with firms throughout the world, he has a particular expertise in Asia. Over the last 20 years, Dr. Black has done research and worked with firms in virtually every country in Asia. In particular, Dr. Black has expertise relative to Japan, having lived and worked in Japan for four years and learned to speak Japanese fluently.
