Emeritus Professor of Organizational Behavior Paul Evans also holds The Shell Chair of Human Resources and Organisational Development, Emeritus. Paul Evans has a PhD in Management and Organizational Psychology from MIT, an MBA from INSEAD, and he is a graduate in law from Cambridge University. He is director of INSEAD's executive seminars on Management of People and Human Resource Management in Asia, and director of Managerial Skills for International Business. He has led for many years INSEAD's activities in the field of international human resource management, and he has been coordinator of the Organizational Behavior department for successive periods.

British by nationality, raised in Africa, and international by orientation, he has taught courses at Boston University, MIT, l'Université de Montréal, Stockholm School of Economics, the University of Zurich, and Cornell University, as well as spending a year as visiting scholar at the University of Southern California and as Visiting Professor at London Business School. He was titular professor at the European Institute for Advanced Studies in Management in Brussels.

He has acted as a corporate advisor and designed/taught leadership programs with more than 100 international corporations, and he is a frequent keynote speaker at international conferences and conventions. He is the founding board member of a pan-European project network, the European Human Resource Forum (EHRF).

His research focused originally on adult, career and leadership development. His book with Fernando Bartolomé, Must Success Cost so Much? (1980) was translated into eight languages, the result of a study of the relationship between the professional and private lives of over 14,000 executives. His research focus then moved on to strategic HRM, and the dualities/paradoxes facing international firms. His most recent book is The Global Challenge: Frameworks for International Human Resource Management (McGraw-Hill, 2002). With his many articles, award-winning cases, a bestselling educational video and e-course on Managing People, he has been described in the press as one of the world's most influential people in the field of international human resource management, and he received an award in 2001 from the INSEAD MBA students as "Outstanding Teacher of the Year" for his teaching in this domain.
