Matthew Bidwell has a degree in Chemistry from Oxford, and a Master's in Political Science from MIT. He received a PhD in Management from the MIT Sloan School of Management.
Matthew's research applies ideas from organizational and institutional economics to understanding how firms are organized. His dissertation examined how firm boundaries affect the way that work is organized and governed, by studying the use of outsourcing and independent consultants within a large financial services institution. His more recent research examines how different managerial styles affect project effectiveness in high-technology work.
