Jose Luis Alvarez is Visiting Professor at INSEAD since 2001, where he teaches in the MBA (Best Teacher Award) and Executive Education Programs, such as the International Executive Programme and numerous in companies. Professor Alvarez has been Visiting Professor at the Harvard Business School in the academic year 2000-200, where he taught the “Power and Influence” MBA elective course.
His current work centers on the evolution of the roles of top managers in complex structures, and its impact on corporate politics and governance.
Professor Alvarez holds degrees in Law and Philosophy from the University of Barcelona, an MBA from IESE Business School, and a M.A. and a Ph.D. in Organizational Behavior from Harvard University. His research has been published in the European Management Journal, Organization Studies, Organizations, Corporate Governance, and has published six books. His most recent book Sharing Executive Power: Roles and Relationships at the Top has been published in November 2005 by Cambridge University Press.
His corporate educational activities and consulting experience has focus mostly on issues of governance and change.
