Ioana Popescu holds a Ph.D. in Operations Research and Applied Mathematics from M.I.T., and a B.A. in Mathematics and Computer Science from Wellesley College. She joined the Decision Sciences Area at INSEAD in 1999.
Her main current research is in pricing and revenue management, and broadly speaking in the area of stochastic and dynamic decision making. She publishes in top academic journals, such as Management Science, Operations Research, Mathematics of Operations Research, Transportation Science and the SIAM Journal on Optimization. Her research on moment bounds was awarded the first prize in the Junior Faculty Paper Competition at the 2003 Informs meeting. She was a finalist in the 2005 competition with work on revenue management for media broadcasting. She also serves on the editorial board of the Journal of Revenue and Pricing Management.
At INSEAD, Professor Popescu has developed the first business course on Dynamic Pricing and Revenue Management for M.B.As and Executives. She also teaches the Uncertainty, Data and Judgment core M.B.A. course, EDP modules on Decision Making and a Ph.D. course on Dynamic Programming.
