INSEAD Management in the Humanitarian Sector (MHS): Managing Organisations in a Volatile World

INSEAD Management in the Humanitarian Sector Programme flyer (pdf)

Humanitarian disasters are having larger and more widespread consequences internationally. The changing nature of disasters requires even greater preparedness. Further, humanitarian organisations are being called on to professionalise as they compete for resources. From the private sector point of view, the accelerated rate of globalisation means companies are operating more and more in volatile regions. They require expert knowledge as to how best to cope with issues such as supply chain flexibility, leading diverse teams, and coping with external shocks such as conflicts and disasters.

  • Humanitarian organisations need specialised management skills to complement their expertise and help them prepare more effectively for relief operations
  • Private sector companies need to be better equipped to deal with the expected challenges that come with managing multinational companies in volatile contexts

After ten years of working closely with humanitarian organisations and private sector companies, INSEAD has developed the executive education programme: Management in the Humanitarian Sector: Managing Organisations in a Volatile World.

Over five days, this programme will address critical management issues such as strategy, negotiation, supply chain management and leadership. Interactive sessions encourage participants to share their knowledge gained from personal experience.
