It is with great sadness that we inform you that Herwig Langohr passed away on 28 May 2008.
Herwig Langohr was Professor of Finance and Banking at INSEAD and Léo Goldschmidt Visiting Professor in Corporate Governance at the Solvay Business School. He was Dean, MBA at INSEAD from 1993-1995. He also held visiting faculty positions at The Wharton School, The Darden School and the Universität Konstanz.
Professor Langohr served on the Board of Directors and the Audit Committee of financial services group KBC Bankassurance Holdings N.V., on the Board of Directors and the Audit Committee of venture capital fund NetFundEurope N.V., and on the Board of Directors KBC Insurance N.V. He was formerly on the Board of Directors of e-commerce firm Language Networks BV, the Insead Foundation, Alpnet, Inc and Kredietbank N.V.
He was a contributor to various academic and professional journals and newspapers such as The Journal of Monetary Economics, The Journal of Financial Economics, The Journal of Money, Credit and Banking, The Banker, The Financial Times, De Standaard etc. He was a frequent Director of Executive Programmes, a regular consultant in corporate finance and strategy and a private investor.
He was a Visiting Scholar at the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System and advisor to the Services of the Prime Minister of the Belgian Government.
He received his D.B.A. and M.B.A. degrees from Indiana University in 1977 and 1972 and his Doctor of Law degree from the K.U. Leuven in 1967.
