Four year renewal of the INSEAD-Wharton Alliance

Signing Ceremony in celebration of the renewal
On 30 April, 2008, nearly 160 INSEAD and Wharton alumni and guests joined INSEAD Dean Frank Brown and Wharton Dean Thomas Robertson to celebrate the four year renewal of the INSEAD-Wharton Alliance.


The ceremony was held in the magnificent Tarnopol Room at the Penn Club in New York City.
Professor John Kimberly, Executive Director of the Alliance at Wharton welcomed alumni and guests, giving a brief history of the Alliance since its beginnings in 2001. He then introduced the Deans, presenting each one with a commemorative plaque to celebrate this special occasion.

Dean Frank Brown and Dean Thomas Robertson then spoke in turn about the Alliance and its future activities. A lively Q&A session followed. View the slide show.

Launched in 2001, the Alliance combines the resources of the world's leaders in management education to deliver top quality business research and education across four campuses: INSEAD - Singapore and Fontainebleau, Wharton - Philadelphia and San Francisco. Alliance activities include:

  • MBA exchange programme - 100 to 150 MBA students take part each year. To date 800 students have participated
  • Faculty exchange programme - 60 faculty members have visited or taught at the partner school
  • The INSEAD-Wharton Center for Global Research & Education, directed by Laurence Capron, INSEAD Professor and Research Director of the Alliance, has expanded research opportunities for faculty members and doctoral students across campuses which has led to the publication of books, cases and articles
  • Co-branded executive education courses
  • Joint alumni events and activities around the world

Our global alumni networks
The Alliance brings together the large and active alumni communities of both schools (37,000 INSEAD alumni in 160 countries and 82,000 Wharton alumni in 148 countries). Several joint alumni events around the world have been held including the Alliance Economic Forum (Paris); special Alliance dinners at the Wharton Global Alumni Forums (Singapore, London, Santiago); a series of Alliance alumni events (Singapore, Tokyo, San Francisco); INSEAD National Alumni Associations and Wharton Regional Clubs national events.

Forthcoming conference
On 19-21 June, 2008, INSEAD will host the INSEAD-Wharton Research Conference on Leadership which aims to promote breakthrough research and foster new networks of collaborative research. The conference is by invitation only. If you would like more details, please contact: Marie-Françoise Piquerez.
