Launching new global interest networks – looking for leaders in high tech and other areas
by Roland Stapper (MBA 06J) – IAA VP Clubs
You may have read in one of the previous newsletters that we are launching several new global interest networks. INSEAD alumni around the world with a shared interest in an industry sector, business topic or other theme are getting together in interest communities to leverage the true power of the INSEAD network. They are not only sharing knowledge, answering questions and sharing job opportunities, but are also doing things like meeting up at conferences, creating links between research Faculty and industry experts, and organizing study projects for current students.
The INSEAD alumni association (IAA) supports these initiatives through a structure of several dozen national or local clubs, and a number of global networks. In addition, the IAA helps integrate these groups with existing communication channels, which further allows clubs and networks to focus on delivering valuable events and activities to alumni. Every edition of this newsletter has a few great stories about such initiatives, such as INSEAD Industry Club Goes to Munich
Launching a new global entrepreneurship network
Keen interest in entrepreneurship has already spurned a vibrant alumni community in several locations around the world. By creating a global network to link similar initiatives up and make them stronger, the IAA provides a platform for expansion into regions where there is currently little or no activity. Local leaders in entrepreneurship and representatives from the School have already met with each other to start shaping this initiative, and we expect to launch a global club later this year.
Looking for leaders in high tech and other areas
We are currently looking for leaders of alumni initiatives related to high tech, as there is an exciting opportunity in that sector to link up active communities and expand the network globally. The idea is to bring people together, develop a structure and ideas for activities, and launch later this year.
There are many other opportunities to start new communities locally and globally. New clubs are already being created in Brazil, Portugal and Saudi Arabia as we speak. The global Healthcare and Energy networks are expanding and setting up clubs in new geographies. We are looking for enthusiastic and committed alumni to spearhead such new initiatives.
