In past newsletters we’ve talked about the important upgrades and changes to the INSEAD Alumni Association’s INSEAD Connect platform. I’d like to update you on what has been accomplished so far, and what is soon to be delivered.
Perhaps the most significant changes are what we might consider the ‘behind-the-scenes’ improvements. These relate to our server infrastructure and operating system environment. Quietly, over the past year, all the of outdated equipment that had been used to host our website, databases and mail services, have been replaced by state-of-the-art Cisco blade servers. Additionally, each server operates in what is known as a virtual environment: several applications can be hosted on the same machine. In addition, we have just transitioned to the latest versions of the Microsoft platforms that we have been using. These changes will result in overall improvements in reliability and security, and brings us a number of important new features.
We are about to release a new user interface for INSEAD Connect. We are currently in the user testing phase of this new release. We will deliver this new look and feel in the coming weeks. The new user interface includes improved navigation across INSEAD’s site, improved administration for NAA administrators, blogging capability and a host of other ‘behind-the-scenes’ enhancements. These will shortly be followed by enhancements to the event management system, and more integrated networking and group features.
In the months to come we will also be introducing significant changes to our lifelong mail services, especially important for the reliable delivery of emails sent to your email address at the alumni.insead.edu domain. Furthermore, we are in the process of integrating student, staff and Alumni services and access into one common website, iconnect.insead.edu. We believe this will help link our community and make it even stronger. The transition from student to alum will be much easier.
Look for more important changes in the months to come.
Regards to all,
